Re: Anthony 'Tony' Wilson is Dead
99X in Atlanta was playing Blue Monday, I would guess it was a tribute.

Those who came before me
Lived through their vocations
From the past until completion
They will turn away no more

Re: Anthony 'Tony' Wilson is Dead
i knew Tony had cancer, but i just read this in the peper today... and am truely sad

i met mr Wilson briefly in Manchester in 1993 and he was a truly nice man when i met him

for those who don't know him, I suggest watching the satirical but mainly accurate 24 hour party people film of his life, which he endorsed, or the book of the same name... it pretty much sums him up and his philosophyon life music and the rest...

without Wilson, there would have been no joy division, new order, happy mondays or hacienda

basically the musical landscape would be wholly different

(i appreciate that others were involved in the whole factory /madchester movement - but Wilson was at its heart)

rest in peace, Tony

Same here. 57 is way too young, I feel sad for that.

Re: Anthony 'Tony' Wilson is Dead
that's very sad to hear. i've never heard of him before, although i do listen to new order. it's a shame that people that do such great things have to die young. i hope he's in a better place.

RIP.

Re: Anthony 'Tony' Wilson is Dead
I heard the news last Friday and was gutted, the guy was a genius, a true ambassador for music. It was odd growing up and watching him present the local news every night on Granada reports.

I was on my way home and read it on the front of the local paper - funnily enough walking at the same time past a new exhibition for the Hacienda and factory celebrating 25 years of Manchester music.
