Re: Second Toughest In The Infants Deluxe/Super Deluxe 2015
I'm really digging the vocal version of 'Rowla'
is it just me, or does it also sound vaguely familiar ... did they ever play it live (but with different lyrics)? Like during the pre-Beaucoup Fish tour... I remember Karl singing about a badger... |

Re: Second Toughest In The Infants Deluxe/Super Deluxe 2015
Just did a headphone listen and I am sure "they did not go back and use old midi files" to make this a master recording a masterpiece like the dubno version. Also still the annoying noise at the beginning of the songs (Confusion The Waitress / Juanita). In a remaster like this, this should have been removed?
Although I am very happy with the louder volume, compared with the Dubno it does not justify the high price. But hé, it's Underworld right ;-) Last edited by darkvoice; 11-21-2015 at 02:19 AM. |

It sounds like an early version of Something like a mama to me.

A missed opportunity I fear, but then we can't have everything. They've been touring a lot in the meantime and working on new material. Which would we rather have? Still, I think I'd have preferred them to do the full job on this album in the future rather than put it out now to meet a schedule / anniversary date. Phil |

Re: Second Toughest In The Infants Deluxe/Super Deluxe 2015
More thoughtful review forthcoming but after just listening to it all evening in a drive through LA, the album sounds as good as it ever did. I'm not sure what the remaster achieved besides loudness and some clarity, but the Dubnobass remaster was like listening to a completely new album.
But as with the Dubnobass reissue, the artwork for STITI is dreadful. I do not understand this impulse to repackage their iconic albums in totally new artwork. They did a pretty cool thing by highlighting certain words from Savage's text and later making them the titles of pieces, but it just does not fit this record. I would love to have seen the true Dubnobass and STITI artwork in these deluxe formats. Alas.
