RIP Martin Rushent
The man who made one of the finest and most life changing electronic pop albums that changed my life, has died. Rest in Peace, Martin. Martin produced "Dare" by The Human League and its groundbreaking follow-up remix album Love and Dancing (which was possibly the worlds first remix album). This album was, until Depeche Mode came along and took hold of me in the late 80, my favourite album and I still have the picture disc vinyl somewhere.

The 2002 remaster/reissue CD of Dare packaged with Love and Dancing is for me very close to pop perfection and should be part of everyone's collection. Unfortunately it seems to be out of print, though you can pick up the separate CDs for both albums. A lot of people already have Dare, but I recommend that you pick up Love and Dancing as it still sounds as fresh today as it did back then.

As for Martin, he also produced The Buzzcocks, XTC, The Stranglers, Altered Images, Pete Shelley, Hazel O'Connor, The Go-Gos, 999, Then Jericho, Fuzzbox, Generation X, The Associates and Joy Division. Quite a list.

Re: RIP Martin Rushent
Hear, hear! Too little lauded in the States, he was.

And yes, that 2002 remaster does sound glorious. I remember shaking my head at the "21st Anniversary Edition"...to think it's been another nine years since then.....
