In Rainbows - Where will it chart?
Im really interested to see where this will chart after the whole pay your own way thing has died down now. I guess it will see if people want something physical to hold on to rather then a MP3.

Re: In Rainbows - Where will it chart?
i don't think it's going to be particularly informative. it will illustrate what we already know, that superfans want to own every incarnation of a release, and that casual listeners just want to listen to it, regardless of format, and don't need to own a physical copy for the sake of owning a physical copy.

oh, and also there are luddites out there who won't get on the MP3 train, no matter how cheap the fare is.

Re: In Rainbows - Where will it chart?
i think it will chart fairly highly if not right at the top

i bought a copy from HMV yesterday as i was in town. i couldn't find it so asked the assisstant where the new releases were and he said there weren't many this week other than radiohead (which had a huge display in the shop that i'd missed - hey, it's christmas you know and it's been a bit messy)

it's traditionally a slow week for new releases and record sales in general so i imagine in rainbows will sell enough to hit the top spot...

Re: In Rainbows - Where will it chart?
I'm definitely no superfan, but i thought it was a good album and have bought the cd already.. I don't think i represent the masses in that, but a lot of people still want cd's so i don't think it will affect the sales too much.

Don't expect anything on the StateSide, as we know the fiasco which occurred when "Hail To the Thief" was released.

Re: In Rainbows - Where will it chart?
yea... I don't remember any 'fiasco'

except for the fact that HTTT wasn't that good...
but that call-in 800 number deal was pretty cool (come to think of it)

(oh and does anyone know where I can download their NYE "broadcast"? - as in, I'd like to have it other than on youtube & one long mp3 file...)

Hail to the Thief was a horrible album, I made me lost interest on Radiohead for a couple of years somehow.

Just looked up fiasco def. wrong term sorry. Attempted sabotage would be giving the big wigs too much credit.

Re: In Rainbows - Where will it chart?
i may be a slavering slobbering fangirl, but hail to the thief was great. fie on anyone who says otherwise.

i was just telling the spouse the other day that although i consider underworld to be my "favorite," they still create tracks that i don't particularly like. at least one per album. radiohead, on the other hand, has never created a single track i didn't like. they've never missed, in my book. a couple of close calls but nothing i'd just flat out skip over. but they're still second to underworld in my estimation because underworld's peaks are so much greater and inspire a much more intense emotional reaction in me.

how great was this fall for me, with my two most favoritest bands in the world releasing such stellar albums in the same month?
