Mv & Ee (!!!!!!)
just caught this duo / aka Matt Valentine & Erika Elder / in concert. totally, utterly great. i realized i'd read about them last month, in the context of their having basically started the free folk scene that Davendra, Joanna et al get all the props for. but they were way further out there. weird dubby blues going into full-on psych jams. MV is hardcore on the guitar, sometimes samples and loops himself and layers it over and over til it's a wall of sound. beautiful. i'm a convert.
peep the record here, along with Thurston Moore props Last edited by kid cue; 03-12-2007 at 09:36 AM. |

Re: Mv & Ee (!!!!!!)
Kranky is a good label in general. Some things you also might like off the top of my head are Stars Of The Lid, Boduf Songs, Jessica Bailiff, Wendy And Carl, and The Dead Texan. Also the first few Godspeed You Black Emperor records are on Kranky as well as most of the Low albums (they only left the label recently). Outhud's new stuff was was on Kranky. The early stuff was on other labels. Their website has a lot of sound samples and they've got a bunch of stuff I'm forgetting.
