I know, aren't they? Costly but worth it - rendering time spent at work precious music listening time. The missus had a word in the design, but gifts are best when you decide about the specs yourself...

Absolutely! I have 770s for both myself and the SO. I got them an ipod with "Warm Machine/ Wrap your arms around me" on the back last year. Do you have your 880s plugged into anything snazzy?

FiiO E10K Olympus 2 DAC, workstation --> USB --> 3,5 mm. Does that qualify as 'snazzy' (a word I'll add to my inventory)? Sound's ok but I might need an amplifier. Have maxed out the FiiO occasionally, probably to do with the weak onboard soundchip.

Re: Totally legit official Underworld headphones
It's as snazzy as I got! I have a first gen e10, but the headphone out gets scratchy occasionally and the left ear goes out if I don't prop it correctly, which is a bummer. I similarly have maxed it out a few times and wished for more. Massdrop has a dac/amp combo up right now, and monoprice's desktop amp/dac looks pretty good too, though QA issues leave something to be desired.
