Re: beautiful burnout
hasnt the name been kicking around since the AHDO era? on the t-shirt pack you could buy, one of the iron on sticker things was "biro the leggy". then we heard it on a lemonworld broadcast and later the peel tribute show thingy.

much prefer the album version, never liked the strange vocal about the car in BTL. guess it was an experimental vocal for autotrader

Re: beautiful burnout
A really cool early Biro The Leggy was played live in 2000 ;-) We used to call it Trousers, in the olden days.

Ive never been a huge fan of it, mainly because the versions ive heard have been distorted, lossy or too much crowd noise, but also because i found it rather boring and dull..

When i heard BB on the new album, i really like it - there are parts of the track which build and build, and i keep hearing new sounds that i really like.

Interestingly Karl has been refering to BB as biro on the "official" setlists..

Re: beautiful burnout
I like the breakdown of Biro The Leggy. It was simpler; Karls vocals sounded better with just reverb and no delay and it had a more pronouced bassline.

The breakdown of Biro The Leggy combined with the beat and "action" of Beautiful Burnout would be sweet.

Re: beautiful burnout
Biro the Leggy might still be my favourite things they've done so far. I have no idea why; everything you've all said is pretty fair, but despite that I still listen to it pretty often.

Plus, Biro got there first and has been digging in ever since. The squelchy, farty bass suits it. The whole thing is rougher and dirtier and I love it to bits.

But it wouldn't have seemed right like that on OWB, which I'm actually really getting into, so everything works out for the best, no?

I caught a farty bass one time when i was fishing down in Louisiana, it was pretty easy to know where he was swimming.

get it?

Seriously though Biro reminds me a lot, like someone else mentioned, of Phonestrap. An early version that was begging to be built up. I still like it, but I like the end result more.
