Alison Kraus. She has the voice of an angel.

Re: best singer ?
hmm...

I definitely have a feeling that I may edit this later, but - the first voices that pop to my head (based SOLELY on live shows that I've been to)

• David Bowie

•.Allison Goldfrapp ...at least when I saw her promoting "Black Cherry" - my mouth dropped when I heard her sing "Deer Stop"

• liz fraser... when I saw Massive Attack in Chicago for "Collected" I never thought that someone could sing soooo softly and lightly and yet... come out completely clear. Like, I kept thinking to myself "how the hell am I even able to discern the sounds coming out of her mouth as words?"

i love his voice , and yes he is a singer ( a great one to my taste)
dude, don't be so touchy. i know ronald lippok, i've seen tarwater live twice and probably got most of his and To Rococo Rots work. he just doesn't strike me as a necessarily good singer, and that's what i thought the thread is about. if you like his voice, that's fine with me. jesus....

Re: best singer ?
First to pop into my head: Tom McRae

On further reflection, I think that's probably the right answer, as well. I can't think of any better singers that I've heard live. He has a great range and a lovely soft voice to go with it.

Re: best singer ?
Ahhh, seeing Justin Hayward perform with most of the Moody Blues last year was my favorite. The man has got to be a geezer by now, but maaaan can he still sing!
