Re: 2023-05-29 Movement Detroit
Hope you enjoy your trip and sorry we’ll miss you this time around. Always hoping for a proper US tour (and by ‘proper US tour’ that means the middle in addition to the coasts)!

Re: 2023-05-29 Movement Detroit
Well, looking at last year's schedule, I noticed that there are no changeover times between the different artists, so I wonder if those time slots are truly as long as the schedule implies, or if the last 15-30 minutes of each one is reserved for changeover.
Anyway, if one hour is the low end of the time slots, then as a headliner, Underworld surely will get at least a 90 minute slot. |

Re: 2023-05-29 Movement Detroit
It seemed like last year the schedule was more of a suggestion – almost nothing we saw started or ended on time.
What has me nervous is wondering whether Underworld is actually the main headliner for Monday. Or if there's any chance that could possibly be Skrillex.

Re: 2023-05-29 Movement Detroit
Yup -- schedule is out -- 90 minute festival-closing slot for Underworld!!
Also excited to see Caribou headlining the beautiful Waterfront Stage on Sunday, and a two-hour set on Monday from Beige, who was amazing last year. (Probably the highlight of the festival for us.) If anyone is thinking of going to Movement but doesn't have tickets yet, I just ran across a promo code for $15 off: ENCORE

Re: 2023-05-29 Movement Detroit
Another masterful performance. And thank you to Rick and Karl for returning to Detroit after (gasp, has it really been?) 24 years.
I’m trying to recall the set order. I know this is incorrect: Juanita Two Months Off Dark Train new one? improv? (I’m sorry, I’m not as familiar with the new tracks as I should be. Sounded like a cut-up version of Born Slippy lyrics along with references to animals. Similar beat to Born Slippy.) Strawberry Hotel? (Fairly sure. Caught the phrase ‘strawberry girl’.) Cups (the full song, a real treat) Shudder/King of Snake (Possibly the highlight of the set. Rick subtly edged up the tempo and the crowd went along with it.) Rez/Cowgirl And the Colour Red Born Slippy.NUXX Hopefully someone with a more precise memory can help! It’s interesting to see how their performance has evolved. It’s definitely less manic, but the energy is there, just more judiciously applied. (‘King of Snake’ was 1998-99 all over again.) The beauty’s always been there but is now more to the forefront. (‘Cups’ sounded utterly luxurious.) Nice to see Rick reaching out to the crowd on occasion. He’s more than earned his kudos. And Karl, all smiles and eyes closed, remains the epitome of bliss. I still consider them the most joyful band I’ve seen. Karl once described the Motown music he grew up with as ‘swift and beautiful’. Last night in the Motor City itself, that was a perfect description of Underworld. Last edited by cdave2; 05-30-2023 at 09:53 AM. Reason: Forum doesn’t like quotation marks |

Re: 2023-05-29 Movement Detroit
Ooh! A user on Setlist.fm has named the unknown fourth song as ‘Animal Race’ and notes that it was a live debut.
Now who is this user and how do they know this? (jk) I feel better about not being able to place it. Nice to know that UW added an extra little something special. |
