Re: Scariest film moment?
Cliche, and obvious reply, but The Exorcist scared the hell out of me when I saw it for the first time when it was rereleased in 2000.
Jaws at the age of 5 scared me to the point where I was afraid to be in a pool for about a year or two, let alone the ocean. |

Re: Scariest film moment?
Might as well post this link from TimesOnline today: The 13 most terrifying movie scenes ever.
Includes clips to the scenes. One or two interesting choices there. |

In complete total agreement with your words on Jaws. Me and every other kid on the street. The Exorcist did and always will make me sad when viewing.

Re: Scariest film moment?
yea - when I saw "Jaws" for the first time - it freaked me out as well...
it also didn't help that after watching it, I then had to go upstairs and go to sleep... in a waterbed. I actually even had trouble getting to sleep or rather, without waking up b/c I had a nightmare about being out in the ocean {edit} I just checked that link w/ the most terrifying scenes... I can definitely "Fire Walk with Me" on that list, but def not "Mullholland Drive" (mmmaaaybe Lost Highway...) but it reminded me of the movie "It" - the movie itself almost became like a... urban legend. Like, it was sooooo incredibly scary that you should never watch it. Like, I remember hearing stories that some kids couldn't go to sleep for a long while w/o nightmares, and one kid I knew became completely afraid of clowns b/c of the movie. I actually still haven't watched it... only parts here and there (b/c it's soooooo long from what I recall) Last edited by joethelion; 10-11-2007 at 11:07 AM. |

Re: Scariest film moment?
IT was the first "grown up" book I ever read because I was so fascinated with it. The movie.... eh, if you see it today you'll be unimpressed. It was a TV miniseries so a lot of it's really cheeseball. There are some good scenes and Tim Curry is great as the clown and I still kinda like it just because I'm so connected with the book but... it's not a good movie.
The book is scary though, and watching the movie triggering memories of the book is also scary. I think the first 15 minutes of Lost Highway is scary as shit. Jurassic Park? no. The Shining? yes.

Re: Scariest film moment?
The Shining, ditto.
Mulholland Drive: the door at the very end. Inland Empire: mouth. Pulse (Kiyoshi Kurosawa): woman coming towards the camera. Vertigo: he realizes who she is & the camera zooms in ... + the end. |
