all realllllly good. there's a 2xCD Skull Disco comp out soon which will be required listening! and N-Type's Dubstep Allstars 5! also, Kode9's remix of "Find My Way" is hands down the best thing he's ever done. the other remixes (Junior Boys!) on his myspace are excellent too. |

Thanks for the suggestions, Kid Cue. I was totally fishing for more stuff to hunt down with that statement.
I miss Barefiles like Bambi missed his mommy.

Re: recent purchases, downloads, etc.
hmm... ok - so some of my more recent stuff
Battles - Atlas Soulsavers - It's Not How Far You Fall, It's The Way You Land High Priest - Born Identity Panda Bear - Person Pitch Grizzly Bear - Yellow House Charlotte Gainsbourg - 5:55 Teenage Bad Girl - Cootte Various Artists - Ed Rec Vol. 2 Para One - Epiphanie Phones - Sharpen The Knives/Worryin 10" - Kitsune 042 Dj 7l - the Bladerunners K.I.M. - System Breakdown EP Travis - the Boy With No Name (sampler) John Starlight - Shadowbreaker Midnight Juggernauts - Secrets of the Universe the Stooges - Fun House (deluxe edition) Yoko Ono - Yes, I am a Witch Neil Young - Trans Afterhours 3 - Global Underground [beatport exclusive version] Donut Production - $19.95 FSOL - From the Archives (Vol. 1 - 3) DJs Are Not Rockstars - Djs are not Rockstars Mixtape Parsley Sound - Parsley Sounds Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero (will be buying this on Tuesday!!!) Justin Timberlake - Sexy Back (Unreleased Riton Remix) I also downloaded a replacement copy of the David Byrne album "Feelings"... which was one of my favorite albums when I was in high school... I can't believe that I never replaced it until now (a friend 'borrowed' the album, then lost it years ago). It's an amazing album - like, very pop-y sounding (but in a good way) but with some really clever mixtures of musical styles. Like, for example - "The Gates of Paradise" is like a gospel drum & bass track with some country rock thrown in (and it actually works) some of the Yoko Ono tracks weren't so hot, but the Spiritualized version of "Walking On Thin Ice" is incredible the 7L "Bladerunners" mix is quite possibly the best mix I've heard in quite some time as well. here's a review, courtesy of Turntablelab -> "True cut and paste has become a lost artform. With programs such as Ableton, mash-ups have quickly taken over, kinda like how silk-screening has taking over actual painting. Nonetheless, when someone actually puts out a real cut and paste tape, it's a dj triumph. This shit takes years to come up with: collecting samples and ideas, precise editing, and of course, the deep collection that you know inside and out. 7L and partner Razor have come out with one of the most impressive C&P tapes in a while, (possibly one of the best ever). They've truly put some major work into this, but more importantly, they've kept it fun... anybody can get into this. Even Kenny Dope and Riz, cut and paste kings, are hyping this up. What kind of edits expect: old school hip-hop, disco, 80s, electro, dance classics, and party breaks. 38 edits. Highly recommended." Last edited by joethelion; 04-13-2007 at 12:34 PM. |
