Karl Hyde is Artist in Residence on Double J

We've been so enamoured with everything they do that we asked if they'd be interested in taking over as Double J Artist In Residence this October, and we're thrilled to announce that they happily agreed.

Karl Hyde will host each show, bringing in selection that he has made in collaboration with his 40-year-long creative partner Rick Smith. Hyde's knowledge of a broad range of music is unbelievable, as you will very quickly hear when he kicks off his shows this week, and his passion for it is contagious.
2 hour show every Sunday this month, starting tomorrow. Listen here:

Karl being his usual self between tracks. he plays Can's "One More Night" which is one of those tracks you can definitely see being an influence on Underworld. also seems to be a live version of Thomas Dolby's "Flat Earth" which is a treat.

"Toluca Stars" makes an appearance. Karl says they've been doing Drift for 30 weeks (???)

Nice touch with the Thomas Dolby, very suprised to see Kissing the Pink - Big man restless in there though. Didn't think anyone liked that group. I was a big fan of theirs in the mid 80s.

This series of radio shows were apparently recorded back in May / June while Underworld were in Sydney for the four concerts at the Opera House.

soundtracking my afternoon, very nice stuff. very amused to hear him talk about the profundity of Captain Beefheart's "Tropical Hot Dog Night". such a great tune.

Third episode, Big Room Bangers, is available now:

Oh, I just realized that these episode titles are following the World of Underworld playlists themes. So, I guess next week will be Ambient.
