Yeah that was interesting - that the riverruns actually existed as much longer threads of music they gave to Steve Hall to group into shorter bits more like what was released. I think that's what Karl was saying, anyway, correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, he said Rick had put together "shakedown soundsystems" that were edited down into the riverrun releases.

Re: Karl interview ~ 'Just Off The Radar'
A very nice interview. I remember Karl saying on UWLive that he'd had an interview over the phone... When was that? In this interview he says that there should be a release in 2 weeks time. So I'm guessing that its either late, or out real soon.

tracklist from the site:

SHOW #111 (02.11.06)

THE BLUESKINS - "CHANGE MY MIND"
WORKHORSES OF THE ENTERTAINMENT/RECREATION INDUSTRY - "NIGHT OF SAN LORENZO"
THE ELECTED - "FIREFLIES IN A STEEL MILL"
BALUJI SHRIVASTAV - "THE SEVEN WONDERS"
UNDERWORLD - "LOVELY BROKEN THING" (actually JAL to Tokyo)
UNDERWORLD - "PIZZA FOR EGGS" (actually Food A Ready)
FUNKILLER - "HOOK, LINE & SINKER"
LAMBCHOP & HANDS OFF CUBA - "BLUR"

The interview starts at 18:53 and the download is 54mb.

Cool insight to how RiverRun came to be!

My Q before DLing... how are the rest of the tracks in the show? Any standouts?

I only listened to the songs before the interview, but they seemed to be mostly folk/country type things. Pretty good for stuff I've never heard of before. One of them is a sitar song.

Was the intro music a Kraftwerk song? I know I've heard that before.

The show is 1hr and the Underworld part takes up about 30mins of it which doesnt leave much room for many tracks. The Blueskins tracks is a raw rocking track in stark contrast the the Workhorses... track which is a dead mellow semi acoustic guitar track with a country feel. The Elected track sounds dead dated 70s easy listening. The Baluji track is a bit weird. lots of percussion and flute and vocal instrumentation with an eastern edge. Nice sitar. The Funkiller track is a simple upbeat guitar + drum thing. Unremarkable. The Lambchop track is a great downtempo tune with some weird samples and some twisted beats. I like. Best tracks I'd say were the Baluji track and the Lambchop. Easy to skip the tracks if you dont like them tho.

Yes! It's called "Ruckzuck" and it's the intro track to their first album...not Autobahn, but their actual out-of-print debut. Only good track from the pre-Autobahn period really.

And look through their archives! Andy Partridge!? XTC'S ANDY PARTRIDGE!? WHY DID I MISS THIS

Oh yeah, the one with the red traffic cone on the front. Supposedly this is going to be reissued soon, but who knows?

Re: Karl interview ~ 'Just Off The Radar'
Picking up on another thing off this interview: apparently they're looking at new ways of doing stuff live.

Now, they've done major live stage -> streaming over internet. The flipside of that is webcast as usual from lemonworld -> internet -> somewhere in the real world. A willing pub/venue/whatever, a laptop, a broadband connection, PA and a projector. Maybe even a webcam going back to lemonworld, for a bit of feedback.

How cool would that be?
