Re: Underworld - dubs and instrumentals
Interesting exercises in vocal removal. It's an odd listen, for me, in a couple of respects:
1) I'm so used to hearing the vocals, I find I'm awaiting them to enter. But without them, you are right, I pay closer attention to what's happening with the music. Surely some buried loops and effects that I'd not noticed before. However... 2) Got to appreciate your efforts to strip out the vocals, but the half-erased vox leads to weird fluttering effects and artifacts, and the whole experience is kind of like listening to a low bitrate stream. Not terrible, but glitchy. The stems from the old idrum app (i remember having Cowgirl, Pearls Girl, Dark Train) were fun to play around with and remix acapella versions! Obviously not what you are doing here, but a similar sort of concentration on the loops and layering options rather than the track builds as we know them.

Re: Underworld - dubs and instrumentals
hi holden,
i agree, these are just interesting experiments. we will have to wait several more years for software to improve on these features. although, with enough work, they can be made to sound better. youtube compression doesn't help. i'm in the processing of revisitng these tracks, and made some improvements. later -1 |
