Re: what inspires?
[COLOR=DarkSlateGray]Adam, thanks, you hit the nail on the head for me, regarding escapism, and the process v/ product idea. I haven't been able to paint for much too long, because of these 2.
You give some really valuable tips.
(I won't try the LSD though )

Re: what inspires?
Hey, thanks for all the advice. I agree with you all about a lot of things. I do stuff to escape a lot... but I live in a fairly desolate place. I can't wait until I move away. But I often go out for walks or bike rides (as long as the weather holds). There's a lot of beauty out there, that's for sure.

I think I'll skip the LSD too, thanks.

Instead, I forced myself to work on music, and ended up coming up with something I really liked, which also lifted my bad mood. If I had started WoW again, I would have used the bad mood as an excuse for its escapism, turned it on, and, yes, probably have enjoyed myself (that's the whole appeal, innit?)
art can be the ultimate escapism, creating something beautiful from the ugliness/irritations of the world from which you want to escape. escapism through transformation.

Re: what inspires?
two things have always been the motivation behind anything creative I've done.

1. women
2. pain

its debatable how independent the two motivators are.

edit: this goes by way of answering what inspires me, not to offer advice along hte lines of dating some nightmarish woman and undergoing general emotional trauma.

haha, been there and done that. Those are the two motivators that get me writing too. Not that either of them are good things, and they usually tend to deepen my little rut. Yeah, they seem to go together quite well too. oy. waiting for the positive motivator to arrive.

Re: what inspires?
collaborate. Being a solo musician/producer was fine fpr me but being in a group where you can bounce ideas off other people (and get support when you're flagging) is much better.
