Re: 2010-10-30 - 4th and B, San Diego
i didn't go (because i opted for HARD, still stings) to the fox theater show but i have the bootleg of that performance and iirc UW played for about 2 hours, even though they were scheduled 90 minutes.

That makes two of us! I'm glad it was set up for video stream though! I connected my iPhone and enjoyed the show from my big screen TV. That was cool! But it was certainly a let down that the Forum gig was shut down...

I haven't heard that term in ages! I'd say it's up there with Rad and Bitchin'!!!

The VIP seating was offered during the pre-sale. There are some box seats behind the floor and this is the area. It's close to the bar. I believe these sold out pretty quick as the section is rather small.

Very good info! I had no idea how long they were scheduled for, and it's great that they went over half an hour. The only thing that scares me that the same thing might not happen here is that the Bay Area may be a little more wonderfully liberal when it comes to music, particularly toward the legendary Underworld. (I did watch the Fox show via the stream that night, which was particularly well executed.)

Ugh! I can't even tell you, man. Most of the crowd there was so very not, well, I don't want to sound elitist, but may I say "evolved"? (And I mean that strictly in a spiritual/mental way, obviously.) I would have loved to see Beetroots too, and they didn't get to go on either, if memory serves. (And I barely missed my beloved Crystal Castles, as I think they were playing as I waited in those obscene lines to get in.)

The crowd seemed so cool at the Fox. I watched the stream, too, and I thought the cast was brilliantly done! "Beautiful Burnout", in particular, annihilated my face.

I really, truly love OWB. Best UW album title ever, too. Musically, it's not my very fave, however, as there's no way I could ever choose between ST, BF & DN. While on the topic, though, would anyone besides myself have preferred that the original title for BF stuck ("Tonight, Matthew, I'm Going To Be Underworld")?

Hah! Yes, I'm afraid many Surfer terms aren't terribly imaginative, but I suppose they do the job. Cross the pond, my fave UK slang so far has to be "cocker spaniel", as it can mean "one's lifetime", right?

Right, thank you for that. All I care about is being in the front, up against the railing. I'm not sure how early I'll have to get there for that, but I'm thinking it could be early as 4p..

But what about this meetup? I'm especially interested in meeting anyone from outside the States. Ran into a really lovely guy from Wales, I think, at the Forum "show". (He even looked like Rick, so the whole night I was just kind of fascinated by the resemblance.)

Oh, and does anyone know if Yannick and/or King of Snake are still around? I think Yannick is Canadian, and KoS Dutch, perhaps? And particularly Scott Warner, obviously. Didn't he say he was going to the San Diego show? I've never actually met Scott..

Ideas have been kicked around but no one's made the executive decision, as it were. There's conflicting times for doors open and for underworld (screamsanddreams.com STILL isn't updated).

So, unless anyone is damned opposed, let's officially say Johnny Brown's at 6:00pm. That'll give us at least an hour (if doors are at 7) or more (if doors are at 8 and/or if we don't care to hear the openers).

I'll have on a bright red adidas jacket/beard/glasses, so pretty easy to spot. I'll try to be at the bar, but may wind up at a table if it's too packed.

This sounds really good to me, but I have a bit of an embarrassing admission to make. I am, indeed, a fanatical UW fan, as their music has been an *integral* part of my life for the last decade. I just have to see them from the rails (I won't scream like a girl or anything, but my eyes will be *very* big), so I wonder if this does indeed mean I should get in line in the late afternoon.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

If no one does, I'm going to assume that I should go ahead and get there *that* early, so I'll obviously miss the meetup. I really don't want to miss seeing you guys, though, so what if I propose an aftershow meetup at a Denny's (chain diner)? I'll drive whoever doesn't have a car (or as many as will fit in my Civic), and I'll take whoever back to their hotels/cars after..

How does this sound?

Only thing is that I might be waiting around a bit after the gig to see if I can possibly share a hug with R/K/D.

Even if doors are at 7 as originally listed, I think 4 would be WAY too early, imho. At most non-festival shows I've been to (and not just underworld, mind you) you can get right up front during/just after the opening act with a lot of polite excuse-me's and persistence.

Besides, we're bound to be more fun than standing in line

Re: 2010-10-30 - 4th and B, San Diego
i probably won't get to SD till close to 7pm, so we'll be going straight to the venue... we're leaving LA at about 4pm - so it all depends on traffic... we could get down there in less than 2hrs if the asphalt isn't full of rubber once we hit the pedal...

i'll be in box 1 of the VIP section with my buddy O.P. my wife decided to stay home so I can go crazy at the show. we'll be the tall guy / short guy combo - kind of like R & K

this sounds exactly like me; except not screaming like a girl, i might even do that.

like its already been said i don't think you'll need to get there too early to hit the rails. i don't see much cross-over between blaqk audio and underworld fans, and i doubt you'll have a gigantic rush once the doors open.

i think meeting at 6 and then maybe heading over shortly thereafter (depending on doors) would be fine. has anyone actually called 4th and B to see if they even know when doors open?
