Darren Price Interview: NI Maschine
Pretty cool little interview with Darren Price:
http://www.native-instruments.com/#/...vance&page=885

He explains the integration of Native Instruments' Maschine into the UW live set, and provides a demo of the device, playing Everybody Jack.

Let's hope that means they're gonna bring back the Price tracks (and general improvs) in the live show!

Re: Darren Price Interview: NI Maschine
Nice video. He said they were going to play it at the "Miami Music Conference" in a couple week. I think he meant Ultra (which split from the Winter Music Conference this year). So, maybe it was the "unknown song" reported here.

The bassline on that song is very similar to the one used on "This Race."

The new 1.6 is amazing. He's absolutely right. Since they integrated the AU and VST support, I rearranged my studio to make Maschine the focus. It's fun to see what he's doing with it.... nice post!

Re: Darren Price Interview: NI Maschine
sounds pretty cool.. and looks neat..

but i really wonder about what the extent of
being able to play 'all' the old underworld tracks,
or what parts they could put into this device.

sounds like some advertising hype thrown in there..

if it was that easy and powerful, well.. guess we'll have
to wait and see if they really do utilize it a lot, and bring
back the older sound.. if it doesn't really impact their
stage show as much..

besides what will rick do then, if this replaces a lot of the
equipment?

He will be able to focus more on nodding, wobbling his knees and providing the excellent backing vocals like the last tour

I found the video interesting, a nice insight, and the first time i've heard Darren talk. I was quite surprised that he seemed proud that he had written a track in 1 day, in my opinion i think a pro producer should be taking the time to craft their work - but as -1 pointed out, there is alot of advertising fluff in there.

Neat bit of kit, and nice video - and really looking forward to hear the "revived" old tracks in 2011

no offence to darren,

but 'everybody jack' isn't exactly a highlight,
or highpoint of his musical output, and it's
not really that complex either.. .
sure it's cool, but i can believe it's a 1-day
piece of work..

i'm sure there's other really cool tracks out there
that have been created in very short periods of
time too..

Re: Darren Price Interview: NI Maschine
to me, he was speaking to the fact that music can be fun to make if the machinery can keep up with you. sure, one can agonize over a mix, but that's usually for studio stuff... not really for live play. there's some hype in there for certain. what they should do, is use maschine more, but continue to route things into separate tracks on the mixer, so rick can still work the board. just my opinion. my own live set is now in the works thanks to this update. i'm so happy to be in the studio right now.

I still prefer this version of Everybody Jack: http://www.borndirty.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11112

Re: Darren Price Interview: NI Maschine
I finally got around to watching this video...

definitely seems like a good bit of hardware, but I was more caught by that version of "Everybody Jack"

now that song really has gone through a bit of an evolution hasn't it? I mean, the original - really "sounded like an improv" if you know what I mean (like good song, but def needed more oomph) but in the vid, it seemed like a 'proper song'
