120 Minutes
2 interesting things:
-watching an old MTV 120 Minutes from around the release of BF...
Karl and Rick were guests... being interviewed...
yet, Rick was recording the interview on a MiniDisc. nice.

-they mentioned how fans would get to see the Van Halen, Van Halen, Rock Guitar Band piece... it was shown where? how is it?
will we ever see this in an archive??

anyone???

also, it was mentioned here:

by user 'lyrical', that this image reminded him of it.

Re: 120 Minutes
I have only 1 minute or so of Van Halen...., it was part of a broadcast of the 1999 Tilburg concert + tour around Tomato. Also in there a few seconds of karl and the other boys at a catwalk showing clothes and playing music. Plus some of the tomato ads.

No kidding. I used to tape it every weekend and watch the tape the next day, along with The State. I wonder if I taped that episode and then FFW'ed through the interviews since I'd never heard of UW and was totally into rock at the time....

hehe, totally. I also used to tape AMP all the time, and re-watch all the videos by Chemical brothers and the like. ah, nostalgia.

Re: 120 Minutes
the original RTSR website - when there was like, the official page then the 'unofficial' fan page - had a real audio stream of at least a long section of the Van Halen deal

I absolutely loved having it... unfortunately, I never recorded a hard copy, and it seems that no one else had one

From what I remember - this is what was on the real audio file:
• Karl talking about Toots & the Maytals "Pressure Drop" with the "the girl" audio soundtracking (title taken from its more recent appearance on dirty radio)
• stuff about going on a road trip, and having a flat tire in the middle of the desert and an interview with URB magazine
• a story about a guy who came up to karl and offered a picture of a beautiful girl reclining on a car, but there was a dead rat on the photo

...it's funny that I remember that much from something I only heard a handful of times like... six years ago!

although I never saw any video of it

I just wish I had that audio again... it really blew my mind back then

Re: 120 Minutes
I have the audio on a disc that negative1 sent to me a few years ago. I won't be able to dig it up for a few weeks. Maybe you could ask him in the meantime.

that's how I got into electronic music, including Underworld. my old college flatmate emailed me recently asking if I still had the tapes, and I do somewhere. he suggested we make DVDs out of them. good times.
