The Chemical Brothers - 'Hanna' Soundtrack
The Chemical Brothers have scored the entire Joe Wright-directed movie 'Hanna', which is due out in cinemas next month.
The 20-track soundtrack is due to be released on iTunes on March 20. You can hear the song 'Container Park' below. Hanna tells the story of a 16-year-old girl who was trained by her father to be an assassin. The plot follows her as she is chased across Europe by an intelligence agent. The movie stars Saoirse Ronan as Hanna, as well as Eric Bana, and Cate Blanchett. It is released on April 8. 'Hanna' tracklisting: 'Hanna's Theme' 'Escape 700' 'Chalice 1' 'The Devil Is in the Details' 'Map Sounds / Chalice 2' 'The Forest' 'Quayside Synthesis' 'The Sandman' 'Marissa Flashback' 'Bahnhof Rumble' 'The Devil Is in the Beats' 'Car Chase (Arp Worship)' 'Interrogation / Lonesome Subway / Grimm's House' 'Hanna vs. Marissa' 'Sun Collapse' 'Special Ops' 'Escape Wavefold' 'Isolated Howl' 'Container Park' 'Hanna's Theme (Vocal Version)' >>>Link to 'Container Park' track<<< (also 2 one minute snippets of other tracks located on links on the right-hand side of the Soundcloud page) .

Re: The Chemical Brothers - 'Hanna' Soundtrack
After a couple so-so releases (Push The Button, We Are The Night), my faith in the Chems was restored with last year's "Further". Definitely a growth album, full of ideas and proggy sounds and aside from unrecognized female vocalist, just Tom's vocals. No collaborations.
These snippets seem like logical continuation - the Chemical Brothers are aging gracefully and trying new things rather than pumping out the big beats of the 90's or the hip hop singles of the 00's. "Hannas Theme" could be a backing track to anything on Further. "Quayside Synthesis" evolves from organic percussion into a spooky organ-laden dance track. "Container Park", the longest (full?) track here has a horror movie vibe, replete with windy shrieks, choir effects, reverb-heavy beats, and a very Orbitalesque bassline (reminds me a lot of "Meltdown" off The Altogether), not to mention more builds and stops than a track ought to legally have!

Re: The Chemical Brothers - 'Hanna' Soundtrack
a bit off topic...
but - do you think the reason why "Further" sounds the way it does, is because predominantly the only reason why people bought "Brotherhood" was because of the "Electronic Battle Weapons"? |

Re: The Chemical Brothers - 'Hanna' Soundtrack
That could be...also WATN didn't really have a big single, so maybe they wanted to quit while they were ahead (in a manner of speaking)

Re: The Chemical Brothers - 'Hanna' Soundtrack
Listened to the stream - great stuff! A fair share of interludes, but the fuller tracks are awe--- wait for it -- some!
Yes, i agree that Brotherhood was a worthless rehash that i didn't purchase, not even for the Electronic Battle Weapons. "Come With Us" was the last worthy album till "Further", in my opinion. Whether the Chems got that sense as well, or if they;ve genuinely evolved, i don't care- the music is better now!
