Re: District 9
Looks kinda subtle Neo-Mcarthyistical, anti-immigrationy type thing.

Re: District 9
trailer didn't really grab me. I'll wait and see what people's reactions are before seeing it.

Re: District 9
I'm going to see it later this evening. Two friends saw it earlier this week at a press screening and were raving about it.

Re: District 9
I'm dying to hear what you have to say about this one. Special effects look a bit cheese, but the story line structure seems to be the gem of it all.

Re: District 9
I saw it yesterday and loved it SO MUCH. It's been a long time since I've been so thrilled watching a film. The effects are monumental.. I think this is the first CGI-heavy film that I've seen without ever thinking 'damn that's some good CGI' whilst watching it, everything felt real and authentic and I bought into every second of it. Shartlo Copley, the lead actor, does a truly magnificent performance the whole way through.

I went into it with absolutely no expectations, hadn't even seen a trailer and honestly had not even heard of the film at all until a few hours before going to see it.. which may have had something to do with how blown away I was. But I think this is going to become a sci-fi classic to join the halls of Blade Runner, Terminator, et al.

The only complaints I've heard from others about this film is that it starts off slow (the action doesn't really begin until around halfway through), although I was absolutely enthralled from start to finish.

Re: District 9
Thank you for that lovely review.

I'll rent it.

Per bas_I_am below:

I see you made "I" lower case, did your wife make you go see it alone? If so, "i" think that's really funny.
