Re: The Official OWB Thread
Still waiting for my Japanese SE to turn up (would've been here by now if the Royal Mail hadn't tried to stitch their workforce up, I reckon), but I cracked yesterday and went down HMV to buy the UK "vanilla edition", just to tide me over. Superb stuff; like someone else mentioned, it's rich in the initial UW aura of delight and confusion. Will be in my stereo for a while, this one.

BTW: Negative1... are you Proem?

For me, i'd most enjoy a longer "To heal", though we are supposedly possibly getting the version with Rick's dad speeking in thick Welsh accent on UWLive...let's hope.

A longer Faxed Invitation would be nice, as this track really gets into me. And agreed, the last track is lovely, but could have been epic. But really, no complaints...this is how the boys wanted it, and it's so far sounding to my ears like an integrated masterwork, certainly more so than AHDO. Somewhere approaching STITI in terms of feeling.

Re: The Official OWB Thread
Just grabbed the album out of the mailbox and am on Holding the Moth. Quite different than what I was expecting. I love it.

Good Morning Cockerel could be longer...makes the hairs on my arm stand up.

Other than that. I'm thoroughly enjoying OwB so far.

Really love the overall melancholy feel to it...as with many UW offerings, it has that dangerous, sad, tear on my heartstrings...felt that way when I first heard STITI

It will have to grow on me for sure, not really sure what to make of it yet. I think I like RiverRun more than the album.

The first two tracks of Pizza For Eggs blow this whole album away save for Faxed Invitation and Loads of Birds.
Hell, take those four tracks together with about 8 minutes of the best chimey/talky "Big Sister" stuff and perhaps Jal to Tokyo and Scribble...........THATS A LEGENDARY CD RIGHT THERE!!!!

Re: The Official OWB Thread
Just picked up the limited edition at the store this afternoon.

I can't get over how much better the purchased album sounds over the downloaded promo. It's amazing the clarity and the new sounds you can pick up with the disc + a decent sound system. I rate the album an extra 1/2 point for that alone. One complaint however, the bonus DVD is severely lacking. There's barely anything there of interest. The croc vid is OK, the pictures are cool, the rez video is disapointing etc. Perhaps a short docu on the making of OWB or something would have really been a cool extra.

Re: The Official OWB Thread
After giving it three listens through, the CD is certainly quality. The only qualms I have with it are Ring Road (which I really don't like right now, but I'll give it time) and the first couple of bars of Holding the Moth which sound like something I would come up with in Fruity Loops when I was 14 (don't get me wrong, the rest of that tune is incredible). Solid release here.

Anyone else a sad-act like me and picked up on the typo in the sleeve credits? http://www.underworld.live.com isn't an active domain as far as I know (unless there's something planned that's yet to be announced)

Spelling aside, OWB is improving with every spin... just like Bravo Two Zero by Andy McNab
