antichrist

i am a bit confused. there is a lot of christian folklore about an antichrist and all that, but is any of it actually based in the christian bible? the only solid stuff i can find is in the qu'ran wherein it says that there will be a guy who claims to be jesus sometime in the future, and jesus will come back and get rid of him, which seems to be the predominant opinion in conservative christian thought. as far as i know, the only stuff that references the antichrist in the christian bible is if you take a ton of verses from a bunch of different places and tie them all together into some kind of a narrative that resembles the muslim concept, which is what most right wing churches apparently do. i know the revelation goes into the endtimes and whatnot, but AFAIK an antichrist isn't in there. can anyone cite me some kind of reference from the christian bible where the antichrist is discussed? because to me it looks like more folklore than anything actually based on scripture.

Shouldn't this be in "bound"? The irony in THAT word now...

I could tell you a few of my observances here, like, a creative writing paper I did back in '91-92 area of my life & my comparing religion to superstition..., or when I went to a Catholic school & got into an arguement with a few nuns about Jesus and my voracious and adament arguement trying to justify my claiming of, 'Jesus was, like, one of the greatests worlocks. Ever! I think it's kinda neato!!"

But I got, in so many words, "removed" from that school. I'll keep my mouth shut and just wait and see where this discussion topic goes. If anywhere . . .

Oh, and on another note kinda sidetracking, but hey I'm good at that. If anyone knows where one can rent that film from a few years back off the same title it would be much appreciated. I can't find it anywhere. Was it banned?

Been a long time since I read the Bible so I'm afraid all I have to go on is a vague recollection of something in Revelation, which is probably the same thing you mention about the end times, but beefed up from reading and watching subsequent books and movies. There are some suggestions here but unsurprisingly, it seems to hang on interpretation.

All the mentions of the actual word from the KJV Bible:

1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

And the main concept that you are talking about comes from Revelations 13:

[1] And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Many consider the "he" that gives life unto the image of the beast to be The Antichrist, but anyone who opposes the Messiah is an antichrist.

I don't think that movie was banned...

At least, before I moved to Glasgow (this Fall) you could get it on Netflix - I watched a fair portion of it on-demand. Have you seen it?

It's really not that good. Or rather - there were just many portions that were stupidly hard to watch, and I found myself asking - "ok what exactly is the point of this movie (other than to be "shocking""

and I mean... no one really needs to see Willem Dafoe's penis. especially in super-slo motion

I finally did and it was soooo f-ing LAME!!

I did quite enjoy "Bronson"(my kinda comedy, AND there's penis shots in it too, but not in a sexual way.) German flims seem to show a lot of penis shots too???? Weird. Basically, I'm just trying to say I'm LOVIN' my Netflix.

Just to clear this post up. I'm loving the foreign film selection as I've been able to catch up on many movies I'd wanted to see in the past. Not for the full frontal scenes in them necessarily.
