Re: New Live CD's - Brixton Academy Oct. 31 & Nov. 1
both of them came in the mail today along with two nifty postcards. one is a warwicker painting saying how tonights show would be recorded, and the other is karl doodling on the perou photo about the groove. nice.

i havent seen anyone say theyve gotten theirs yet so i guess i'll post the info about them...

SO
the cds arent pressed but burned, and the sound quality on the first gig is a bit more muddled and distanced than usual, but nothing to really complain about.

Can we d/l individual tracks or does it have to be the whole shabang? Im really just interested in ALAF and Strumpet. Have most tracks played on various bootlegs or LHN purchases, personally I dont want to pay for stuff all over again

Re: New Live CD's - Brixton Academy Oct. 31 & Nov. 1
so - I'm mostly just after "Strumpet" and "Always Loved a Film" ...

and both tracks were played at Brixton Academy, London, England, 01.11.2008

...is there anything very "special" about the 31.10.2008 show? I mean, I've already got a LHN recording of "Dirty Epic" (and "Banstyle") from earlier in the tour

...aaaaannnnd if the first show doesn't have sound that's quite as good as the others....

(edit)
and I can't seem to find the actual link for the WAV download, but I'm not too worried about it
it is early - and I'm not gonna be able to listen to the concert till after I take my GRE's in about an hour and a half

you guys are goofy.
it sounds like you should take a break from live shows althogether
i mean listen to yrselves.
what'd i say about the audio quality? yes, its a little less crisp but i figured as long as i was talking to archivists i'd observe that. it still sounds amazing.

Agree with Dubman. I'd rather hear the whole concert to get the tracks in context, with their unique transitions and any special improvs. Plus, the order of at least the first show's setlist looked interesting/random/different than the usual.
yeah, you guys should know that no two UW concerts are the same. No matter how many times you've heard NUXX, it's arrival in the context of the show as a complete event always brings the chills

Still, i'm most interested in hearing Strumpet for the newness of it (yes, i know it's been kicking around for years. But the 2000 Electraglide version sounds very different than what i could majke out from the video on RTSR).

Re: New Live CD's - Brixton Academy Oct. 31 & Nov. 1
well -

I'm DEFINITELY going to be getting an entire show... not just individual tracks (that would be just crazy)

But - my plan on buying these actual LHN cd's is thus:
I'm only buying shows with 'unique' set lists, that have "new songs" or improv's that aren't that common

what I meant about the show from the 10th was... well - wouldn't you guys agree with me that some shows (while yes, everyone is UNIQUE in of themselves) are not quite as 'special' as others

like while you might have three shows from the same tour that all have ...say "Push Upstairs" for example - one version might have a cool poem before it or a weird breakdown in the middle - while the other two might sound pretty similar amongst each other

make sense?

AND I FINALLY GOT DONE WITH MY GRE!!!!!
(yes, I'm lame and the first thing I did after I got home was check on this MB - I need to just shut off my thinking)

Re: New Live CD's - Brixton Academy Oct. 31 & Nov. 1
congrats!

yeah i get that.
in an ideal world, i'd have all 15 LHN cds, but out of necessity i have to pick and choose, so i got manchester because it had the best guitar for glam bucket and bamboo. and roundhouse 2 because i saw it happening online and it was amazing, and roundhouse 4 because the playlist was great. im also planning amsterdam, koln, and brussels because they look like great sets too. (and any of those people really recommend. guys?)

i preordered the brixton shows because it just felt like it'd be something special. and it was. oich oich, original born slippy, peach tree, banstyle, parc, dirty epic, spoonman, and the two new excellent ones.
