Well, with that attitude, I can see why he was chosen.

Re: Sweet ass teaser poster for Transformers!
I was a HUGE fan of Transformers when I was a kid, followed the cartoon, went to see the animated movie, and collected the toys. I thought it was a massive steaming pile!!!! I wasn't sure if I was watching a movie or a propaganda film (part automobile company/part "Yay US Military"). I was EXTREMELY disappointed in it!!!!!! The effects were sloppy and happened so fast I couldn't tell what was going on. The plot was ridiculously stupid.

FFS - it's a movie about giant talking robots!!! That's it! It's got action, it's got a hot babe, it's got holes in the story, it's got cheese, it's got some comedy. It needed more Barricade and more Starscream - but there's always time for a sequel. I'm not creaming my pants and saying it's the best movie ever - but I went and saw it on the biggest, loudest screen in my town, precisely because it's a movie about BIG FUCKOFF ROBOTS beating the crap out of each other. I laughed at bits, I cringed at others, I went "Team America, FUCK YEAH!" a few times, and all in all basically walked out having enjoyed myself the entire time. And the wife did too - and she hates geek culture and pop-hype. Christ - go back and watch the original Hasbro cartoon and get all anal retentive and invertedly obtuse with your analysis over that "infantile pap" - which coincidentally involved big robots talking and cheesing it up far more than the movie did. I want to see an Aussie version take place at Bathurst in which 40 foot high Holdens and Fords beat seven shades of holy hell out of each other.

Re: Sweet ass teaser poster for Transformers!
It was barely about giant talking robots.

Re: Sweet ass teaser poster for Transformers!
It did involve robots cheesing it up but it didn't involve masturbation jokes or robots peeing on things (that I recall).
I would be fine, given the source material, if it were a stupid, well-done action movie. By my standards, it wasn't well-done. The "Vern vs. Transformers" quotes accurately convey my problems with the action and design. Weak.

I saw it again last night and it was rad. All youse bitches are fronting. Starscream was badass and needs a whole movie revolving around him. Chuck once again proves that people from the southern hemisphere know what's up.

Re: Sweet ass teaser poster for Transformers!
just saw this yesterday, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Or rather it did everything I expected it to do in a pretty good way. I really dug the design of the transformers even though I had my doubts from looking at the pictures, it all worked great in motion. I think they made the right decision by making it pretty light-hearted with a lot of humour. Okay it wasn't always the best jokes but it had some great moments, especially the autobots trying to not get noticed when they're at (whatever the main guy's name was)' house.
Who cares about the story really, for me it didn't get in the way of the action and there was definitely plenty of great looking action scenes.
