Re: the 2005 dirty poll: the results
he's just the standard once a year record thats full of infectiously enjoyable ballads and rock and pop songs that seem to be effortlessly constructed but are really quite inspired.

wasnt my number one, lets say that he's got a 74 minute record that's without a bad song on it.

and yeah, this list is.... =/

for heaven's sake. it's a best of year list. there's no way everyone's going to agree with it. in fact, i doubt anyone agrees with it 100%. that's not the point. it's a fair record of what the dirty community as a whole has enjoyed this year. personally, i think Takk should be higher, cos it was my record of the year, but evidently enough people disagreed with me to keep it down at no. 5. take it for what it is and don't expect it to necessarily reflect your own tastes.

coldplay
jack johnson
royksopp
chemical brothers at number 12
the killers
goldfrapp
the doves.

the persecu-- ahem, prosecution rests.

Ah, come on, the Goldfrapp album is pretty decent. Mind you, I'm not sure when you'd actually listen to it. It's designed as seduction music, I think, but I doubt whether any actual women would be seduced by it. I guess if a woman wanted to seduce a man, she could put that album on and then it would work pretty well.

Re: the 2005 dirty poll: the results
My number 2 and number 4 choices were at number 1 and number 3. I struck out on everything else.

I usually like looking at these lists because it gives me a chance to check out a lot of good things that I may missed in the past year. But this year, the list doesn't exicte me as much. Personal preferences, I suppose.

coldplay - yup, pretty average album

jack johnson - fucking great album

royksopp - good, not great, but worthy of inclusion in a top 50

the killers - another fantastic album albeit released in 2004

goldfrapp - excellent album and probably the one madonna wanted to make

the doves - another great album, not in my top 10 for the year but only because there were so many great albums this year

so, what exactly was your evidence..?

if you started liking the bloc i'm sure women would go on dates

on a serious note, i'm surprised howl by BRMC didn't make it on the list, i love that album, the songwritings just so strong

i've even seen Bloc Party live last year and i don't think their album is bad. i guess i'm just shocked to see so much indie and chartrock on that list. it looks as if it's compiled by your usual indie dj and hence, boring.

i think that reflects the fact that the "indie" genre has received a much needed kick up the backside this past year
