not even survivalism?

that one has been abusing my repeat function for the last couple days now.
rhythm is a bit unusual but it sticks together.

what is unusual about that rhythm?

i wish Trent would stop trying to make profound albums and use his engineering talent on gabba records instead.

NIN used to be my favorite band when i was like 17, mainly cause of TDS. Then I realized they sucked, I think when I heard Starfucks Inc, these tracks are not any better. Actually Trent Reznor's soundtrack for Quake is better than this.

i mean structurally, the rhythm of the song is really awkward, like the transition between different sections always sounds a fraction of a second from not working at all. while the actual rhythm of the song may be nothing new, the different sounds come together rather well, i thought.

may not be a reason to like the song, really. but i do think it's a huge departure from 'with teeth' simply because he's not obsessing over himself so much anymore. which is good, because 40 yr olds who still have 17 yr old problems was off putting after he turned 30.
so combine the fact that i can barely hear him and that he's got a great visual of his own dystopia means i'm totally going along with it.
i do hope the story has got some depth. it souldnt be terribly hard considering the setup...

I think "Broken" is Trent's greatest achievement. Short, focused, shows up Ministry at their own game.

This'll be interesting, but based on these leaked tracks from "Year Zero," I'll still say that Skinny Puppy's "Mythmaker" is the best industrial album out so far this year. That isn't to say they aren't good. They just aren't inducing the "obsessive" effect "Mythmaker" has.

"Broken" is good, it was the record that got me into them. That song where they are on a cage in the vid or wathever. I use to play it really LOUD! This is going to suck thoug, the name of the album is lame, the artwork is lame, these 3 tracks are lame.

it's just another four/floor beat with some slightly tricksy percussion that makes the space at the end of each bar sound off-beat. my problem with all this stuff is that none of it is surprising anymore, it just gets by on production value and graphic design. i think he should use his PR team to make a movie (starring Christopher Walken, that would be totally awesome).

yea, you're right . i didnt want my inner hype machine to disintegrate by facing a 20 year history of terrible lyrics only occasionally saved by the music, but i was hoping that age maybe made him deliberate or focus a bit more and pull something really great out what he's shown so far.

i think i'm more comfortable filling the blanks based on what we have than having a whole movie... i'm not sure.
