DRIFT Series 1 - New album, Nov 1, 2019

Wow. I just wanna thank everyone on here, I was fully giving myself a headache trying to work out firstly whether there were extra tracks on the "album" (?!) version - there were, and whether they pulled a Kanye and fiddled with any of the tracks to create updated versions - they did (although I realise, Underworld were actually the pioneers in that regard)

Then I thought - Go to BornDirty! Of course those guys will help you sort it out. So I read all 32 pages (completist) and I think I've... ahem... CAUGHT underworld's D_R_I_F_T (series 1)

As for the material itself, wow I have been really enjoying Underworld again since Barbara Barbara. Not to say I didn't like Barking or that period - I love that they went a bit more mainstream back then because that's when I could afford to go to festivals and hearing Scribble out with my friends was always a 1000x rush

The only 'problem' is, I love this 2016+ and Riverrun eras way way more. (and the radio shows - thanks Mr Bang) ... I'm gonna say it. The D_R_I_F_T period is feeling like Riverrun³ (yes, cubed). Slightly different, more extroverted, bright vibe, but a similar style and disdain for convention. I'm still processing Barbara, Barbara... let's just say my Underworld tank has been resized, and topped up.

imagine being able to tell the Dirts from 2003 that Underworld was gonna release a quintuple album in 2019 and it was pretty much all gonna be great

AND
that they'd release a new track every week leading up to it, and every week they didn't they opened up the archives.

Hope the boxset does include a digital download of the full thing. Sampler album does flow and a lovely build up like BF did

Did anyone get the PDF with the digital download? Is it worth it? Be cool to purchase if you get a PDF of the whole book.

I did. But I bought the Digital Sampler Edition from the UW Store. I imagine the PDF mirrors the book with the box set as it is 41 pages and touches on all of the releases in order along with a long form interview, gear notes, video notes, and more. I haven't done a deep dive - but really looking forward to seeing this in print.

UPDATED: Looking at the preview video UW posted last week, I can confirm the the PDF included with the high-res Sampler Edition sold direct from the UW store is the same as the box set book.

I made the mistake of ordering from Qobuz. I only saw recently it was up on the UW store digitally for cheap. Spent double the price with no PDF.

One other thing I noticed, is that they finally standardized on "Custard Speedtalk" for the track name (instead of "Custard Speed Talk". And they issued a change to all retail platforms that changed the track name in Episode 3 from "Speed Talk" to "Speedtalk". I didn't realize they could do that.
