Re: Isles of Wonder - Music for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games
It's not an interview with Underworld, but I caught this on the Richard Bacon / Zoe Ball podcast this weekend:
"...There's an interview with Mike Dolbear, the guy that taught 1,000 drummers to provide the heartbeat of the London 2012 Opening Ceremony, with an exclusive performance from his Pandemonium Drummers..." The interview is split through the podcast - first part of the interview starts about 6:20, and continues at 31.40. Lots of name dropping of Rick Smith, and the Pandemonium Drummers play a live session (although it is edited for the podcast) and they talk about the process of training 1000 live drummers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/dailybacon Direct Link: http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/...0810-0916b.mp3 Last edited by Mike; 08-13-2012 at 07:33 AM. |

Ugh:
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/cal...to/id552780363 I don't know how iTunes can allow shit like this on there. This is not the first Olympics music rip-off I've seen on there either. |

On the upside the lyrics are probably easier to understand in their version...
Also found it amusing that they named every single contributing artist in their "Tribute To" section, despite the fact that the majority of their roles are probably served by a Casio keyboard here.

So, the karaoke version you have to sing your own la-la-la-la-la? Seems to have a lot of cowbell in it btw.

Re: Isles of Wonder - Music for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games
well,
i FINALLY got around to hearing the entire soundtrack and the underworld parts.. but still haven't seen the opening ceremony yet (will get around to it).. i'm disappointed in a lot of the underworld tracks- ----- - most of them are way too short - most of them don't even sound like the originals, i really wanted to hear what they would do to dirty epic, dark and long, confusion the waitress, etc.. - the longer tracks, like 'rez' didn't need yet another remix even the too main original tracks, seemed good for bits, but i don't like the vocals or the choral parts.. oh well... i would like to put the blame on high contrast for messing up all the mixes.. but at least they took a very bad stab at them.. hopefully, the full versions or better versions will surface someday.. later -1 |

Oh yeah I am totally addicted to it, the throbbing beat and airy textures make it very pleasing. I particularly like the way the melody switches from the piano to the "oscar" synth sound and back again.
