Re: Ring Road - Fake Blood Remix - Underworldlive.com
ok, after a good nights sleep i wake and find that we're seriously discussing the 'merits' of this thing...
are we for real here?
i still feel like a sucker for starting to take this remix as a real deal of any kind but if it is it'll be the worst thing that's ever had their name on it. this remix is gross and embarrassing and it makes me mad and depressed.

i'm pretty sure Rick and Karl were expecting/hoping to see this kind of over the top response.

i'd love to hear the final sounds of my life soundtracked by the Lynn Collins/Think loop.

heavenly.

i don't think it's anything to get overly excited about, but it's definitely better than the laidback luke one. i like the over-the-top gloss and hammy cliched sounds. it has a sense of irony, and i appreciate remixes that take an ironic glance inward.

i don't see myself giving it more than a couple of listens, but it's fun for what it is. if it came up in a club i'd dance the shit out of it.

oh i'm sure of it, they eat this up. if it pisses someone off that means theyre doing something 'different' and probably 'interesting'

i just think it's incompetent as hell and reading that as positive feedback is being more of a troll than i'll ever be.
god, i do hate this mix though. i'm allergic to this. this is the kind of mind-numbing awfulness i always knew to avoid like death since i got my first boombox.
i keep listening to snatches of it just to... hear something different but ALL I DO IS RAGE.

Re: Ring Road - Fake Blood Remix - Underworldlive.com
i seriously think this remix is an attempt at raising a smile

rather than trying to produce something that fits a niche - its not supposed to be anything other than a fun mix (imo)

and judging by some of the stuff R&K play on their radio shows - they have a very eclectic [i hate that word] style /collection - and this mix, i think, is a result of that!

after all, the basis of almost all of the late 80's and early 90's remixes were sampling old tracks and 'cut and paste' jobs - no one dissed the KLF for 6 years of it - i think this is what Fake Blood has done here - and this track (of all UW's output) it works well with

i know more people are gonna dislike it because it doesn't fit in with the usual UW style but it is a fun mix and it does work

its certainly not formulaic unlike the other ring road mix - which is clearly a techno track...

keep the debate continuing ....

Re: Ring Road - Fake Blood Remix - Underworldlive.com
Well I haven't heard the Laidback Luke remix, but if this one is better, then I really don't think I need to hear it. I know it comes down to personal taste, but for me, this "Fake Blood" remix is crap whoever did it. And I just don't personally consider crap to be "fun".

I used to be excited about new remixes of Underworld tracks, and I'd run right out and buy them. Now I couldn't really care less about most of them. Although Pig & Dan #3 of Play Pig was indeed a gem among petrified shit-nuggets.

And I've read all the debating here and in other threads about who these remixes are targeted at, who's using whom to help sell records, or how it's just a different style - but what it really comes down to for me is that whatever the circumstances, they should just be good mixes for crying out loud. It's a freakin' insult to those of us out here trying to get our feet in the door of the music industry by doing good work when someone with a "name" can churn out crap and get it widely distributed under the guise of being "fun" or whatever else.

Which leads me to my final point - if they're having so much trouble finding anyone to do a decent mix, then freakin' hire me and/or some of the other talented musicians/producers here on the forums. We'll gladly take a stab at it, and we certainly couldn't do any worse than the junk we've been hearing. Plus, we'd be cheap.
