Re: Flywaver - Yes, it was kind of hard to mix Orbital tracks, mostly because i am lo-fi and do my own beatmapping, and Orbital's drumloops are often tricky/busy. Letting the software auto-beatmap often gives crap results i don't trust. Also, many of their tracks are quite orchestral, or dare-i-say more complex than the average dancesong with lead ins and fade out beats. So, i had to match tracks based more on mood/harmony than BPM.

Anyway, these are some of my favorite harder tracks by the Brothers Hartnoll, spanning all the albums. Made this mix for exercising, so some of the transitions are rougher than others, i wasn't too picky! Hope you like, though!

p.s. I took The Mongoose's suggestion and used filedropper. It uploaded fine, about as slow as other fileshare sites. LEt me know how it works for downloading

Re: Anyone done an Orbital mix up?
What can i say! Great start to the day.
As i thought it is nightmare to mix but saying that you did a fine job Holden. Plus you had my all time favourite Remind ( Had a mix of this somewhere involving Meat Beat Manifesto.Basically Remind with Lyrics!)
It goes to show what a fine band of brothers Orbital were. Classed as a dance act yet were pretty unique with there BPMs!
I never bothered with there further solo work.Should i? Any EPs or Albums worth checking out?
Oh yeah it's down to you now Negative1. I await with anticipation...

[mp3] -> _orbital_megamix_v1.0_
ok,

here's my version of an orbital megamix..
almost 2hours long!!!

and it covers a lot of their history..

now i don't like all of these songs,
but they seemed to go well together..

the mix goes from slow to fast,
from hard to soft...from beats to
rhythms....i didn't try to stuff all
their songs in there, so you hear
long passages too...

i had a hard time with some of the
transitions, but i went back and
reworked them, so they sound better
now..

enjoy..

Re: Anyone done an Orbital mix up?
by the way,

i really liked hearing the other remixes out there..

anyone, want to do another set (not quite a challenge
or is it)????...
===============================================
i've got some ideas

- fluke
- nitzerbb (old or new reworks)
- cabaret voltaire
- kraftwerk
- chemical brothers
- sasha
- human league

etc..

another much harder one..(i haven' gotten it
worked out yet)..
-------------------------------
track 1 - group 1-remixed by group 2 (ie....bjork -remixed by uw)
track 2- group 2-remixed by group 3 (ie..underworld -remixed by micronauts)
track 3 - group 3-remixed by group 4 (ie...micronauts-remixed by..dave clarke?)
etc....
track n - group n+1-remixed by group1 (ie ????- remixed by bjork)

so it's kind of a cyclical remix............SOUNDS TOUGH!!

any other ideas/groups?
(note, the groups i mentioned i actually have a lot of material from)

Not at all. When clicking on "Download This File", there's just a blank page, and no download starts.

EDIT: I allowed cookies.

.
Turds... sorry about that! It worked fine for me and i guess a few others. The crap thing about these free file share sites is that they take so long to upload a file, let alone download. But you get what you pay for.

I did a Fluke tribute mix a year or so ago, but it was shoddy, because (a) i'm not a very good DJ and (b) they had a habit of changing the BPM through their song! Tis true! But if you want to hear some really cool Fluke mixes, check out: http://www.2bitpie.net/2bitpie/?p=29 mixes by Fluke fan extraordinaire, JustinCredible

Hmmm...should try the Chem mix soon!

Works now. I'm curious how I'll have to pay for the unpaid-for download...
