Re: Underworld mkIII?
Stuff like Ballet Lane and Ess Gee remind me of OWB more than BF. It's definitely a halfway point, ADHO.

apparently to this, MKI was '87 - '90
Then MKII ended with the release of Anthology covering '92 - '02

So one could argue AHDO, Riverrun projects, and OblivionWB was its own generation because of the similarity in sound these 3 projects contain. AHDO is one I listen to personally the most, even though I've worn out their Everything, Everything DVD
I'm also not one to assume I know what kind of music a band is going to release. So if the music really does reflect the new artwork then maybe a new generation is in order? (MKIV)

[and i dont know if the subject of the thread was for Underworld to officially announce a new generation or change the color scheme of the forums to welcome the new fans, if the latter, i suggest a new thread, just sayin']

Re: Underworld mkIII?
I dunno, maybe you can say mkIII after Emerson left, but they didn't change that much, did they??

mkIV is a little ridiculous

I mean they'll still play stuff like Cowgirl and Juanita, but they won't play like Glory! Glory! again. They lost 3 members and completely changed their sound from mk1 -> mk2. That's why there's the distinction

Well then by that rational this is still MKII - they still play all those songs today, no glory glory etc... still a dance group... still MKII

End of.
This is a silly discussion :P

Re: Underworld mkIII?
okay, i kind of see AHDO, RiverRun and OWB as an era of their own, but in a way it sounded a lot more like MK II dying out rather than a new era altogether. from what i've seen of the new album this seems very different. i'm not sure if we're ready to denote it as totally different or not. the thing is, MKI and MKII are very different, whereas the differences between each consecutive album since are not as large. personally i think the MKIII MKIV whatnot are a bit overboard, as the differences are not that large. i think after mark i we can denote them as 'eras', like the 80s/90s UW (mother earth, lemon interrupt thru beaucoup fish) 2000s underworld (ahdo-owb) and then this new stuff that's coming out, but honestly there shouldn't be any forum consensus or anything, that just seems obsessive.

Your call has been answered, in part. Please see the new Darktrain.org homepage. Its a start. I agree with you that change is needed, however, forums need to be easy on the eye if youre staring at them a long time so when we upgrade the forums (and we will), there will always be a brown theme. That's not to say there won't be other themes though!

Check it out: http://www.darktrain.org

As for UW. This is Mk3 and has been ever since Emerson left. It still is.
