Re: Somnopolis
I'm pretty sure it's the 'vocal interlude' before Little Speaker on the Underworld vs The Misterons 12.12.07 Lemonworld broadcast.
I love that 'story', I listened to it a lot when I was editing my Oblivion With Bells Tour Mixes as it was used at the start of Phonestrap 6 Autotrader 4 at one of the London Roundhouse gigs. I would love to know who came up with this text (and the Bruce Lee Bullet story) and how? It's a great mix by the way! Last edited by Billy Goat; 01-05-2019 at 12:04 AM. |

Re: Somnopolis
They are several mixes I did that basically condensed the best (my opinion) versions of each track they played on the OWB tour Live Here Now cds.
I did it all on Audacity (with a limited understanding of Audacity) and I keep thinking I may have another go at a couple of the mixes with new techniques I've learnt in Audacity if I ever get the time! They should still be available on the link in the dedicated thread. |

Re: Somnopolis
Thanks very much! These are basically my attempt to do something like the old Underworld broadcasts so that any Dirties like them is the greatest measure of success.

Somnopolis 04
Of note to Dirties, included in this is my attempt to seamlessly edit multiple versions of Jumbo and Nicodemus into a single track. I know they've been mixed by the group before but my favorite bits are in disparate recordings so I tried to make an Ultimate version. This mix is an attempt to compile a collection of “closing” tracks, or tracks powerful enough to be album closers, and sequence them into a seamless listening experience with a beginning, middle and end. Sonically this is almost exactly half instrumental and half vocal, this is a seamless blend of deep synth pads, drowned beats, and the processed plucks of acoustic guitar strings. Apple Lossless Version (399MB) MP3 Version (187MB) 01. Depeche Mode: Barrel of a Gun (Underworld Soft Mix) 02. Hanz Zimmer & Benjamin Wallfisch: Someone Lived This 03. Lissie: Go Your Own Way 04. Dean Hurley: Interior Home by the Sea 05. Daft Punk: Within (Nicolas Jarr Remix) 06. Rob Dougan: Beautiful Things 07. Nine Inch Nails: A Warm Place 08. Darren Price & Underworld: Nicodemus/Jumbo (Kh Edit) 09. Vangelis: Desolation Path 10. Yeah Yeah Yeahs: The Diamond Sea 11. Moby: Everloving 12. Underworld: Santiago Quatro 13. The Smashing Pumpkins: The Beginning is the End is the Beginning 14. New Order: Elegia 15. Underworld: Stagger 16. Queen: Forever 17. Billie Eilish: Listen Before I Go 18. Radiohead: True Love Waits 19: Underworld: Dirty Epic (Excerpt from ‘The Cutting Room Floor Mix’) 20. Nine Inch Nails: Find My Way (Oneohtrix Point Never Remix) Time: 76 min |

Re: Somnopolis
Hey all - thought you might like this DJ mix I made of tracks from the Hackers soundtrack, which compiles stuff from the original releases, the 25th anniversary reissue, and the original score. Includes a couple Underworlds of course. Nothing too fancy but some clever transitions, I think.
01. Orbital: Halcyon + On + On 02. Fluke: Absurd (Whitewash Edit) 03. Guy Pratt: One Combination 04. The Orb: Toxygene 05. Simon Boswell: City Of Data 06. BT: Remember 07. Leftfield: Open Up 08. Empirion: Narcotic Influence 2 09. Underworld: Cherry Pie 10. Simon Boswell: Hackers Suite 11. Leftfield: Original 12. Kruder & Dorfmeister: Original Bedroom Rockers 13. Underworld: Cowgirl 14. Guy Pratt featuring David Gilmour: Grand Central Station 15. Leftfield: Inspection (Check One) 16. Massive Attack: Protection 17. BT: Godspeed 18. The Prodigy: One Love 19. The Prodigy: Voodoo People Streaming and download links at http://www.andykhouri.com/zero-cool-mix Last edited by khouri; 10-21-2020 at 10:52 PM. |

Re: Somnopolis
Nice mix! Takes me back to the "golden age"(?!) when Electronica was poised to take over the world! Well, maybe not, but the tracks represent some of my favorite artists and a period when i was just hitting the tip of the iceberg of electro music.
Enjoyed the mix very much - some quality transitions, indeed (except the rough cut and slowdown into "toxygene", but that vocal sample is always abrupt). Thanks so much for the share!
