Re: The Official OWB Thread
at the risk of being flamed, i'm going to admit something here: "boy, boy, boy" might be my least favorite underworld song of all time. it's worse than "river of bass." it's actually getting in the way of my appreciation of the second half of the album because every time i get into it i just end up backing up to a better previous track.

to redeem myself, let me just say that i love every track up until that point. "glam bucket" owns me. verdict is still out on everything following.

I am inclined to agree, so was somewhat surprised (and disappointed) to hear it may be the next single. I am enjoying the hell out of the rest of the album though, (definitely their best LP since STITI) - my favourite album of the year along with 'From Here We Go Sublime' by The Field.

I could certainly go for longer versions of some of the songs on UWlive.com ('To Heal...' and an even longer 'Beautiful Burnout', please!) but I think in the context of listening to the album as a whole the shorter tracks like 'To Heal...' and GMC work well.

i like river of bass - and, shit, there are much worse songs that RoB in UW's back cat...

each to their own though....

boy boy boy is ok in my book...

i agree with 95% of this.
river of bass is great.

but boy boy is beyond terrible.
when i mixd my own version for work (i wanted to put the phonestrap/loads of birds/autotrader combo) i deleted boy boy boy to make room for autostrap.
hate that song
HATE THAT SONG.

it only makes sense when i found later on that the hideous apparatus of U2 had touched it.

Re: The Official OWB Thread
it's okay. consistently, there's always one song on each album that i find completely unlistenable. an inexplicable low point in the play list. BF is the only one that didn't follow that pattern.

so i was expecting it, and i'm fine with it, and i can move on.

whoops i just realized i misspoke. STITI is the only one that didn't follow that pattern. i disliked "something like a mama" on BF.

My sentiments exactly! Karl (who`s voice/poetic lyrics sound amazing in other contexts) sounds like a country "hick" on Boy, Boy, Boy! IMO, it sounds like a redneck attempt at something in the vein of electronic music (along the same lines as Trim)!

The instrumental sounds fine until the vocals start!

R&K should keep this type of experimental rubbish to River Run Releases!!!

Note: I`m not putting down the RR stuff. Actually, I loved it! I just think this was a more appropriate medium for squeezing in flaky tracks like Boy, Boy, Boy.
