Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
In fact - I may be a n00b but I am a l33t touch-typist and decided to retype word for word, comma for comma, this piece and post it here because I am aware that it may not be on the site come tomorrow or Monday and it would be a shame for Dirts who don't log on over the weekend to miss it. So here goes (in 2 parts):

Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
To those of us who love the work of Underworld, the union of Rick and Karl, we know very well that they are literally one foot in front of the other, repeating, necessary for "Underworld" to be "Underworld". Rick and Karl, you are both loved for your abilities not only on your own, but your ability to play off of each other so well.

Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
I'm glad BeautifulBurnout posted that here, because I felt that it needed to be on the fourm and was going to type it out if it hadn't been done already.
I've always been interested in the process behind the work, but we don't often get to see what's behind the curtain. I've never really known if that's because journalists don't get told any of it, or because they don't write about it when they do get told. It's easy to assume that Mr S makes a melody, LeDarrenDeJour sticks a kickdum under it then Mr H sings... and maybe some bands do work like that, but I doubt something as rich as Underworld's output could concievably emerge from such a linear process. I've always wondered about division of labour within UW, and I'm glad to read that it's as complex as I'd imagined. |
