So, the new downtempo jazzy version of Jumbo, as heard on the 12/05 broadcast and up for a while on myspace, turns out to be Darren Price's "Nicodemus". It's lovely, but i'm again surprised to find that music i thought was new UW improvs actually being by Pricey (as with "5 ft 5", and "Shake that Higher").

p.s.: for anyone who has interest in burning the show to disc (i am still an album man in the mp3 age), here is some simple cover art using the posted tracklist and images that were posted on uwlive prior to the event. i split the show at ~77 minutes in (just before the UW vocal interlude).

the last track is wrong. it was a track by Prince Far I about Virgin/Front Lines, could have been called Virgin but the artist was def. Prince Far I.

this take on spoonman is just...... well let's just say i was listening to it on headphones on the evening train last night and it made me want to get up and hug all of the other commuters.

why can't people have their own opinions? why can't people express their opinions with out being flamed here? yes, it is a fan-board, but we don't want to turn into underworld apologists where nothing bad can be said about them. don't worry, i'm sure that -1 is not hurting r&k's feelings so why get so defensive?

i am not taking a stance either way, as I don't have enough experience to make a claim like it's the best/worst/etc but I do believe that -1 should be able to say whatever he f-ing wants to without being directly flamed

i think it's just a matter of being courteous. someone gives you a gift, you dont shit on them if you deem their gift to not be up to par. "they shouldn't be thanked" may have rubbed people the wrong way.

-1's critique isn't valid because he's comparing a free internet only show to wildly different types of performance.

no harm meant from me. i just see this as a particular type of show. saying this wasn't as good as the Peel Session or Blue Mountain gig is just ridiculous because they're not meant to be the same type of performance.
