I remember Autechre putting their promos out on cassette, and the White Stripes distributing vinyl only promos. Not a bad idea.

a bit of an overdone point, but UW dj'd a set of their then-new-BF-music on XFM before they released Kittens/KoS?

i remember a track where they played some of Rick's ambient pieces, Cups, Winjer, and a bit of Moaner.

so they do in fact have a history of playing whatever the hell they like before a release. but the official single always seems to be the slamming track of the album.

was properly stoned on friday night when i got in my mates car to head out, and i'd completely forgotten about UW on R1 until tong introduced the track. personally i loved the intro and got really excited as i felt the music a return to the STITI form, but when the vocoder came in it didn't do anything for me and i just wanted to hear what karl was saying. however after my initial rant in the car i settled back to listen and the longer it went on the more the vocoder like people have already said here slunk into the background as more an instrument and started to work with the rest of the track. would like to here the full track before commenting more, but i certainly wouldn't mind if there was a non-vocoder mix.

Whatever form they release it in, I'm set. Got 2 good (got a number more that aren't playing) old recordplayers that do 78rpm, a car and a home 8-track player, old trusty teac casseterecorder, a few tapedecks...
Uhooh... don't have a MDplayer :s *panic*

I love this track, but then, I love all things Underworld.

I think the context and anticipation surrounding this track really do harm to it. We're all starving for new Underworld. When this pops up, it doesn't really satisfy what we really want -- a bangin' new Underworld single. Instead we get a complicated, bold departure of sorts. If this track were on an album/EP next to "more traditional" Underworld pieces, I bet you guys would like it a bit more

Can't wait for this "new project" to surface!

you know the more i play it, the better this track gets...

i reallly love the beats...

less so the filtered / voc-coder whatever it is...

but its a grower for sure...

i still prefer the 'original' version played by Woolly in his mix, but this slower tempo version has some great sounds in it...

love to hear the full 25 minutes...
