Yup, my thoughts exactly. The drumline from Shout Twice. And that drumline shows up again in Something Like a Mama Alt Mix. Rick must have really liked that drumline to try to fit it in so many times.

Some other thoughts:

Push Upstairs Alt 1 - This must have been an early bassline and it's pretty much the same as heard at Eurockéennes Festival that same month. The bassline was then used in The Large Unit remix.

The vocal delivery on Nifter reminds me of Skym. I wonder if it's all part of the same vocal session, laid down to a different musical track.

a pretty mellowed out version, not really that different

a much more electro sounding version of the song, well done
and polished in the futureshock style, very 4 to the floor beat with it.

2 of the 3 italo disco versions of the song, unfortunately,
the sound quality is not very good, even though the mixes
are pretty good. nice electro sounds, and discoey beat to them.


6. King Of Snake (Dave Angel Remix) 6:54

from one of the first promos for the song, this mix stays true
to the original, including the house piano parts

7. Jumbo (Rob Rives & Francois Kevorkian Dub) 8:20

nice radical dub version, with the rives and kevorkian touch of extending
it, but keeping the original elements in it

2 more promo mixes. the roger s mix, is much more of a stripped down
marching beat put to it. the adam beyer remix is a super intense beat
heavy and dramatic chord version... nice to see them here.

i think the addition of these tracks and discs makes it worthwhile to me and collectors


don't know why the sound quality is low on the 2 king of snake mixes, i guess the
high res versions might be better?

they had extra time on the 2 remix discs, so they could have squeezed more onto them.

oh well. so is this it for the super deluxe versions?
probably for me.. unless they really pull something out ..

beaucoup fish is what got me into them, and even though its not my favorite album,
seeing them live several times, and collecting the tracks, finding the dirtylist and more
is what kept me a fan all these years. nice to see the tracks getting their dues.

As I mentioned earlier, the 2 Italian KOS remixes appear to be sourced from MP3 vinyl rips played at the wrong speed. I'll reach out to some people and see if I can confirm. I can't fathom how this happened. As it is, I can't recommend those tracks on the box set over a copy of the Italian CD.

I kinda wish they included "8 Ball" on this. I always felt it could have fit perfectly within the album and came out during this era. But we didn't "Oh" on the previous boxset either.

8 ball was included on the 1992-2012 release, so it was redundant.

Okay, I've only had a chance to do a quick skim through this morning on my way to work...

I know that it sucks that "5 Points" isn't included... but the third disc seems pretty good!!

Nifter = is like an alternate "Please Help Me"

I like the slightly different drums on 'Bruce Lee' (and there's snippets of the same guitar sounds also found on "Trousers" (and maybe 'Trim'?))

Orange Bed = another take of "Shout Twice"

It's also interesting to hear the alternate version of "Jumbo" - it reminds me of the early live version

And, now I get why "the Large Unit" mix of 'Push Upstairs' isn't included, as it's very similar to the version on disc 3

...the "Garage Mix" of KOS is basically a more developed version of the "Spoken Word Mix" isn't it?

I haven't had a chance to listen all of the epic version of 'Something Like a Mama' - but wow, it's over 10 minutes!

Bruce Lee (Futureshock Remix) - I'm surprised this and the Dj Hype mixes of Bruce Lee weren't released!

...I didn't notice anything weird with the Coccoluto Mix of KOS... but the Martinez mix sounds weird

[psst... if anyone happens to have a copy of the Italian Cd... a copy would be much appreciated (I only have shitty mp3 vinyl rips)]

...and was that Dub mix of Jumbo at the end ever released commercially? I don't ever remember hearing it before...
