Re: Misterons Jam info
So anyway

Here I am at my Chambers' Christmas party and I downloaded this so it can be our music for the evening (Peach Tree now - fuckn amazing!)

So I am a tad drunk - which is never unusual for me - and there are a bunch of lawyers here discovering how goddam amazing my "fetish band" are and I promise they will all be converted to UW by the time the evening has finished. Really grooving to this sound and loving every minute.

Yeah, we are the weird ones with the wigs and the halloween costumes. But we love it. You rock, Karl, Rick and Darren II. You bring light in.

am i listening to the same broadcast
as the rest of you????

overall,
it wasn't a bad,

but i don't rank it up there with the peel sessions,
or the cocoon ones..dont'get me wrong, i'm all for
the broadcasts, i just they should retain the
quality that they've shown in the past....

i don't think it's really that great that we should
praise them to bring back the older songs, which they should have
been playing all along (but don't anymore), and have
done so many many times and better in the past...since
they're just a natural part of their song collection,
and history..

also, some of the interludes, and instrumental
breaks don't mesh that well, especially all
those ambient tracks, and random samples
snaps (i've got the power??)...

that said, there's still a couple of
decent takes in there..the revitalized
cherry pie, always classic born slippy(orig)..
but that's about it..

overall , a good, but not great effort..
rating : b- , decent, slightly above average

here's a rought estimate of
some of the tracks etc..at least
to separate the instrumentals from
the vocals, and the underworld tracks

Code:
from-to min:sec Note
--------------------------------------------
000:00-000:32 -intro 'zones of price'
000:33-000:46 -'this is the voice' sample
---snip
008:00-019:07 underworld - cherry pie[121207]
---snip
031:53-032:25 -autotrader vocals
---snip
037:35-044:37 -inst09 [somewhere in here is 'peach tree']
---snip
052:22-053:15 -vocal sample talking 'all the stars'
053:16-067:50 underworld-spoonman[121207]
067:51-070:59 -inst13
071:00-077:05 -inst14
077:06-078:29 underworld - vocal samples - little speaker
078:30-086:00 underworld - little speaker[121207]
086:01-089:20 underworld - little speaker - dark train samples
089:21-093:48 -inst15
093:49-099:27 -inst16
099:28-111:23 underworld - bs original[121207]
111:24-113:13 -inst17 (beats)
113:14-114:37 -inst18 (ambient)+samples
114:38-125:09 underworld - air towel[121207]

Your breakdowns always amaze me as you put a lot of time and effort in to everything.

Lesson learnt for future though!

Re: Misterons Jam info
negative1, i'd like to address your criticism and say some stuff you pointed out were from regular techno tracks being played by Price. it's clear that this was Darren Price playing tracks with Abelton between Underworlds live jams. separating all the UW bits on their own leaves you with a great little bit of new Live UW jams. i was bored to tears with the inbetween shit Price played but the UW moments were awesome.

the versions of Peach Tree, Little Speaker, Oich Oich, Spoonman, BS.Original and Billy Goat are all great.

you can blame darren price all you want, but since it's now
an integral part of underworld, and underworld playing live,

they all get the blame / credits for the whole piece,
just excusing the darren price bits (which actually have
some decent parts to them), does not excuse underworld
from rehashing old songs, with a few samples thrown in,
and updating some synth parts.. yes, its harsh..

but like i said, if underworld wants to maintain their
quality and standards, everybody needs to step up..
not just just underworld, and let darren ride on their
works... a more cohesive integration would be good..

yes, its going to take some time, but how long has
darren price been with them? yes, improvising live
is tricky, yes its complicated, yes it can fail,
and they are trying....i'm just saying they can
do better, because they've done so in the past,
under harder circumstances (when it was just
two of them)...
