Re: Good Day Today
I've said before... Jason Bentley is a huge Underworld fan. I live in LA and listen to KCRW everyday. I've met Jason and seen him play live. He would not make this mistake twice. This song is flying under the radar.

America and Europe are two different markets. There's a huge market for hardcore dance music in England, which is why Scribble makes sense for big radio play there. There is no market or show in the US like Tong's on regular radio. Even KCRW doesn't play hard core dance music like that often (some night time shows), but certainly not Morning Becomes Eclectic. Good Day Today fits the KCRW demographic perfectly, so it makes sense.

I guarantee you it's Underworld.

And the gun firing is very deliberate (and works - well - for me).

I love the lyrics and the general sense of the song. Lyrically it's similar to 8 Ball and Two Months Off.

Re: Good Day Today
Half the last album didn't sound like Underworld. And half the album before that. They are always modifying their sound and changing things while keeping the backbone the same, like any good band should.

If it was always the same, it would be a bore.

Indeed, when I listened to it for the first time, "gun shots" didn't come across to me, just some sort of semi sped up sliced beat which oddly goes well.

Re: Good Day Today
ha - so it pretty much has to be UW

but seriously I'm curious now too-
as to me -> other than the gun sounds... this TOTALLY sounds like UW

there's even some synth stuff in the background that sound like "Faxed Invitation"

AND WHAT ABOUT THE ENDING?!?!??!?!?

so why EXACTLY do people say it doesn't sound like UW?

the beat?
the vocals?

Re: Good Day Today
Since my argument for this being Underworld is clearly sound and correct , let's look at the argument for it not being Underworld.

1. gunshots!
2. sometimes people mislabel tracks
3. someone was clever enough to mislabel a track as being from the new Underworld album, press it on a CD or attach it to an email, send it to Jason Bentley and get it played on Friday and Monday's Morning Becomes Eclectic radio show! LOL That Jason Bentley sure is gullable, that person pulled a hilarious joke on him.
4. Yannick said it wasn't Underworld and as we know, Yannick is 100% reliable and trustworthy
5. There's a slightly different sounding vocoder than has been used on any other Underworld songs

Sound reasonable?

relax, friend. whether or not any of us believe it's underworld at this point doesn't affect its actual factual existence. if it ends up that it is underworld we'll all find out soon enough when the album comes out. we don't have any more information now than we did in the initial post, so there doesn't seem much point in debating what is, on both sides, purely speculation.

i still have my doubts. oh well. we'll all survive.
