Re: Albums for 2007
There is one track from the new Cinematics stuff floating around called "to build a home". Gilles Peterson has played it a couple of times. I think you can hear it on the new Solid Steel show at ninjatune.net at the very end.

Unfortunately it sound fairly unimpressive to me, but this does not dampen my spirits for the album.

And Eik, I don't believe you that the new 4Hero is shit. The tracks that I've heard from it have been great and reviews I've read have placed it well above Creating Patterns. It may not be another Two Pages but I'm sure we're in for a treat. These are the guys who pioneered the field Jungle and then later of NuJazz and Broken Beat.

the problem is, the new one is no jungle or nu jazz at all, and rather sounds like a soul album with average beats. no edge, nothing special

the new bloc party 'weekend in the city' album leaked about a month ago and its a triumph imo. the band has expanded & matured their sound from the agit-pop danceable guitar laden beats of 1st album, with excellent production work throughout.

lyrically, it nails every topic it covers, especially the track 'hunting for witches' which has a fantastic guitar hook in it.

stand outs for me are 'the prayer' which has a nice hiphop feel running thru it, 'on' which for me is the best song written about drug use in our generation for a long while, and 'kreuzberg' & 'sunday' which are simply beautiful love songs.

also originally my least favourite track 'i still remember' was wormed its way into my affections as a great pop song, when originally i was slating it for apeing coldplay/U2

will be surprised if the album doesn't blow up and they're not headlining the major festivals next summer. its that stong a collection of songs which combine to be more than the sum of their parts imo
