I'm also desperate for more material from this game. Please, someone rip more audio and upload it!

Wow, great rips! It's so interesting to hear UW material progressing from so many years ago. I can't believe Darc was established that long ago; really impressive stuff.

Dig it! Thanks, Bang!

"Momove" has always been a favorite track of mine. "soopher", less so. But mixed together like this, in the calmer style of the 5/06 radio show, it's just lovely.

We need more banging percussion like that found on "Grape"!

I'm not too surprised that UW have helf onto these bits for years (e.g. 2002ish for WISP to 2005 "Dark" live, 2008 "The bells" "Parc") considering we knew that tracks like Biro/Burnout and Peggy Sussed were several years in the making. heck, even tracks like Rowla and Air Towel showed up live quite a while before STITI. If it's good, hold onto it! (just release it eventually!)

Just to clarify, the files are named after the filenames on the game disc, and those are named after the section of the game they're from.

I had considered that, but there's the problem with the emulation (I don't have a Playstation, much less a Japanese PS). For one thing, there are some parts of the game I haven't even accessed yet, because I haven't played the game much, and parts that I may never be able to access because it crashes. The other problem is that if the game emulation slows down for whatever reason (which it often does), the audio cracks and pops as it gets time stretched to stay in sync with the video. So digital extraction is the way to go here.

I'll do some more when I get some time, but I've been pretty busy lately.

This gives me hope that 5 Points will one day make an appearance, that track is about 13/14 years old.

Re: wordimagesoundplay (wisp) - Underworld sounds and music
i would hope that there are tools for PS2 emulation
that would be able to extract the various elements
separately.

i looked into awhile ago for the PSX, and while that
emulation is mature, and theres a lot of tools for it,
i'm not sure what the status of ripping tools for PS2
is..

thanks again, and if you find the time,
we can wait...

be seeing you

ah - I see... (about the problems with crashing, etc)

well, I will ask a friend of mine, who might know of some other options about extracting the audio. Basically, he's the biggest tech-nerd I've ever known, and has been using emulators/ "cracking" systems (or whatever) for aaaaages

so he might be of some help...

and yeah, this does give me a glimmer of hope that "Five Points' will some day get a studio release

Re: wordimagesoundplay (wisp) - Underworld sounds and music
So, if you've never played WISP before, this series from "Let's Play" walks you through the whole game in 4 videos. Very interesting if you've never seen it before:

http://lparchive.org/wordimagesoundplay/

The video inspired me to pull out WISP again, particularly to find the 9 minute "MAIN" track that they talked about at the end. With some guidance on the length of the track, I was finally able to rip it properly, which I had never been able to do before.

It turns out that it's a 9 minute mega-mix of Mo Move, Soopher, Ansum, and the wind chimes heard on Ess Gee. It's likely that Karl's vocal take is live (you can hear his mess-up in the beginning), and so it's possible that the whole track is a live mix by Rick.

Unfortunately, for disk space reasons I assume, the track is only mono and at a lower sample rate (which is why I couldn't find the correct ripping settings before). Here is the download link:

Re: wordimagesoundplay (wisp) - Underworld sounds and music
I noticed that the PS2 emulator has finally hit v1.0. Does this help?

Nah, doesn't really matter anymore. I only needed the emulator for reference so I could have some context as to what I was ripping digitally, and if I was getting the sounds at the correct sample rates, etc. With the Let's Play videos, I can see the whole game now and relate it to the file structure on the disc.
