Re: Live album of Underworld's Electraglide performance
From what i could gather, it is more a question of international copyright than giving anything "extra" to japanese fans. perhaps it is something that they will release and market separately in different parts of the world. I hope so, anyway.

Re: Live album of Underworld's Electraglide performance
I think many people are missing the point. When I saw PWEI in January they were doing this and you could buy the show on CD at the end of the night. Yes it's a great momento of the evening but I wouldn't go feeling you're being cheated out of some exclusive release. Bear in mind that the show will be recorded and copied to disc that night, hence the sound quality (whilst I'm sure it won't be bad) won't be up to the standard of a professionally mastered and edited live recording like Everything, Everything. Yeah it'll be nice to have, but I wouldn't bet against something similar happening in other places eventually. Will the disc come with original artwork etc? Something in me says it won't, but maybe I'm wrong. You've got access to enough live shows already through RTSR, I'm sure this one will join the selection already there in due course (am I allowed to imply that? The line has certainly blurred in this instance).

I don't think this will be distributed through RTSR as EverythingEverything also has not. Its an interesting question though, as this won't have worldwide release. Something to be discussed thru RTSR rather than dirty, however.

EE was a release. This however is not. What makes this different than any other bootleg?

EDIT: i'll save this for RTSR :[

Because it's made with the intent to be sold by the artists.

yep. 100% right. my brain wasn't working earlier :P

EDIT: i think im just (and always have been) soured by the limited release idea. whether it be movies, music or what not, there just seems no point to it anymore.

sure it will be burned to disc and sold at Electraglide, but there is no way that it will be contained to Electraglide. copies will end up on ebay and a collector and fan like myself will undoubtedly bid on it (at a ridiculous cost mind you) as will a great handful of others on here; dirts alone will drive up the ebay costs bidding against each other. others will end up on the net. I'd rather pay for my copy and feel good about it at the end of the day than download one, but truth be told, Im going to seek out this show. I'd be lying if i said otherwise.

a great deal of us listen to the bootlegs more than we listen to the studio releases which makes this an even larger desire: soundboard quality, non-lossy format is the holy grail for bootleg junkies.

just being honest here

At the gig and at the gig alone. The 'artists' in this case (if it is actually UW who will be taking the cash from sales of this CD), have limited their opportunity for selling this release to one night. No hint of this being available from elsewhere strongly suggests that any trading/downloading/copying etc of this disc that would be to go on after the show would not be at any detriment to the band.

What does make this different than any other bootleg?

good man. Anyone wanting to discuss live bootlegs as well as contributing to the Underworld community should head over there where a discussion on this subject is starting. Link.

If this is done more often, some people who go to a gig where a live cd is sold might think; "why the hell should i buy that disc, it'll be all over the web in a few hours" .

Less sales -> less cash for underworldw -> less healthcare for darren, karl and rick -> more disease -> DEATH!

In short; Downloading buyable recordings directly causes the death of all underworld members !
