Re: And I Will Kiss - 24bit (96khz or 192khz) or vinyl release
As much as I love EE, the quality of the sources (check the fuji '99 show) I don't think would lend themselves to a higher definition. I suspect it'd actually serve to bring out the sound quality shortcomings as opposed to make it better.
Either way, they definitely won't do it, even if there weren't technical challenges. Last edited by jetpig; 05-25-2014 at 11:32 AM. |

Re: And I Will Kiss - 24bit (96khz or 192khz) or vinyl release
Agree - probably shot on basic gear (VHS / MiniDV / Betacam).
I assume UW produced music at 24bit 48khz and then bounced it down to 16bit 44.1 for CD but would be good to confirm what quality they worked at - anyone have info on this? There are several tracks I would love in high res. One is Born Slippy (Nuxx) from the Everything Everything DVD: Many years ago when working at a hi-fi store I would demo this track on 5.1 surround sound using the best screen, amp and speakers possible - the sound was insanely good. In high resolution it would be incredible! Last edited by outsideworld; 05-25-2014 at 06:51 PM. |

Re: And I Will Kiss - 24bit (96khz or 192khz) or vinyl release
I remember reading a thread on an audiophile/hi-fi forum discussing the most important part in the audio chain: DAC/amp/speakers/cables, etc. and the best response was that the mics and recording gear is the most important followed by speakers and on down from there. The sources for EE are all 15 years old now and there's only so much remastering and higher resolutions can do for this sort of stuff.
I guess if we're going down the 'what if' path of them putting stuff into higher resolution, then my thought is that they'll be very choice about the things they choose to give that treatment and EE wouldn't be my first choice. If I had to choose and were limited in my choices I'd like to see the two olympics tracks get hi-res treatment first and foremost, then OwB and LHN after that, if at all. What I'd MOST like to see would be a new EE, but that'd require the material and the desire from the band. 2010 would have been a good year for it if for no other reason than mixing and track selection would have been easy... *grumbles something about unfindable japanese concert videos* |
