Re: Karl Hyde solo album - Edgeland, April 22, 2013
now thats its been a few days and half-a-dozen full listens, i can say with confidence that this is a wonderful album. I have the deluxe and i tracked down the japanese extras. Its a shame that these 4 songs won't be heard by all because they are just fantastic.

This album fills the perfect hole in my listening archive. They all have that 8-ball feel - the mellow yet poppy(?) sound.

This cut is amazing. I like it so much better than "Jigsaw Puzzle."

I think I actually prefer the score for The Outer Edges to the songs on Edgeland. I suppose the score is more Underworldy. I find myself not listening to any of the Edgeland tracks on their own, but I'll put on the record when I want a consistent tone to accompany what I'm doing or thinking. In that way it's a real proper album; Karl identified a sound and built a collection around it. But I wish I could listen to the isolated film score too.

not that i've recieved my order yet, even if i ordered the 24th of january, my hopes of getting a photo are gone... but what the hell, i'm a good loser, specially after listening many times to such a pretty album like edgeland. the first time i enjoyed the first tracks but somewhat hated the last three, i found them to be a little over the top and somewhat cheesy. but they made a lot of sense after some listens. now i like them a lot.

even i found the best position to listen the whole thing - bored at work, waiting for the project to arrive, staring at the window, looking the people/vehicles pass by. delicious album is delicious.

i want my record to arrive. seriously. i want my neighbors to hear what i'm blasting.

Now that I've had a chance to settle down from all of the fucking over I received.... it is a good album and is growing on me, especially with the two added Jap tracks.

Finally received yesterday (wasn't shipped to my house). No litho in either of the two copies ordered, bummer but such is life.

Listening to Shadow Boy right now... this track is just ridiculously brilliant!
The piano note at the end of the track just tops it off!!

Bravo Mr. Hyde. Job well done on a fantastic solo release. Hoping you'll make your way out here to the West Coast of the US. Would love to hear these tracks live.

Time to scour YouTube again to satisfy my cravings...

I haven't looked at the movie yet. What is the score like? Is it basically an instrumental Edgeland?
