Those local to the Seattle, Wa area will be interested to hear this. SIFF is doing 6 showings of a recorded version of the play, one each night of each cast for 3 nights (Oct 31st to Nov 2), $20/show.

Thanks for the heads up! I live near some places that will be showing this. Where I live there is a Monday showing with 'Original Casting' and a Wednesday showing with 'Reverse Casting'. I'm sure I can't go wrong with either cast, but anyone have a recommendation of which one to see?

I preferred "Original Casting" slightly. That's with Cumberbatch as the Creature.

My work schedule permitting (fuck yeah food service!) the SO and I will be doing both showings on the 2nd and will get to see both casts! Time to bust out my very well worn EE shirt.

Saw both casts last night and I overall preferred Miller's creature, with a couple points that Cumberbatch did better, though both were just fantastic. The opening birth scene I overall preferred cumberbatch though at some point it just felt overwrought as well as the closing scene I preferred cumberbatch, but for the rest of it I preferred miller as the creature. He did a much better job with the creature's rise as Frankenstein fell.

The music and overall production makes it VERY obvious this was a dry run for the Olympics. Lots of reused sounds and ideas and familiar set stylings from both Boyle and Rick.

After the first showing I heard the pair of Cumberbatch/Sherlock fan girls (most of the crowd fit this description... :/) behind us say they were gonna get the soundtrack. Hearing someone say, "The director is well known, I think, He got an oscar and did the olympics in Beijing." in the lobby between showings made me cringe though.

Me and Stimpee managed to go to a screening of this recently in The Hague, both wearing Underworld shirts of course It was the version with Cumberbatch as prof Frankenstein and Miller as the creature. I can't even remember the last time I went to see a play, and even though this was of course not a live performance but a screening of a recording it was still definitely a wonderful experience. Some great set designs and solid performances by all the cast. Must have been a very physically taxing role to play the creature. Cinema was full of Cumberbitches too It seemed to be quite popular. The two Amsterdam screenings were sold out and this pretty much was as well. I was actually not really famililiar with the story apart from what you get from pop culture references, but we do have the book here at home so I'll definitely read it as soon as time allows.
