Re: FIFA World Cup 2010
Goal line technology means no replay necessary for determining goals.

Should celebrations be banned too? You do realize how much time is wasted by the goal scorer running and sliding and the subsequent dogpile. That takes several minutes every time a goal is scored. Time stops during a match all the time. I'm not sure why it's ok to celebrate for 3 minutes but not review a play.

Players can actually be yellow carded for delaying the game by celebrating.

I think Winston Reid was given one after the elation of scoring with pretty much the last play of the game against Slovakia.

Which was silly - but it's in the rules.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010
wow what a game...Portugal had the best defense in the tournament and Spain couldn't generate many quality chances at all. It looked as if Spain's porous back line would crack open several times but they got good goalkeeping, a couple fortuitous bounces, and Portugal couldn't put one in.

That red card at the end though was a bit odd. I didn't see what happened to Capdevilla and it almost looked like he took a dive.

I thought Spain edged it. goal was maybe offside but if it was it was by the length of a boot. anyway, better than penalties.

It looks like the Nike curse is in full effect now!

All of those players had bad World Cups.

Is Blatter's U-turn for real?

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...CT_kAD9GL4RNG0

Blatter: "It would be a nonsense to not reopen the file of technology," he said Tuesday.
Just don't forget that this is the same person who in 2008 said: "Let's leave football with errors."

i think he's just bluffing to keep the media off his back for the next couple of weeks. eventually, there will be another ominous meeting discussing the subject in which they will decide, that football is best with its errors. we've seen it all before.

I think they were all jinxed by that nike commercial....roo will be in a trailer park, do I even need to mention ribery appearing on a billboard, no stature for the great ronaldo after that match yesterday, and poor ronaldinho missed the plane to south africa!

IMO - should be wearing three stripes

looking forward to NED v Brazil (forgetting that it's an all swoosh affair)
