Re: Orbital Tonight
I'll wait for the "In Sides" reunion tour and go there with Eikman.

Re: Orbital Tonight
Great show last night. Was the second time I've seen Orbital

Tracklist:

Out there Somewhere Pt 1
(Mobeus)
Out there Somewhere Pt 2
Lush/Lush Euro Tunnel
Impact
Remind
Satan
Belfast
Chime/Chime Crime
Know Where to Run
Halcyon
One Perfect Sunrise

Encore: The Box into Dr Who. Really really hard version of Dr. Who. In fact, all the versions were tricked out and really really hard. AND LONG Jeez--the first 4 songs took over an hour.

Playing Glasto this year too, well stoked to see them as dodgy Spanish pills put paid to my intention to see them at Sonar last year.

Re: Orbital Tonight
the tracklist looks pretty decent, but it says a lot about their recent (i.e. last twelve years) output if they only play the older stuff live. looks like they realized themselves that the altogether and the blue album were utter shit

One Perfect Sunrise is from the Blue Album.

Dr ?, though played forever live, was released on The Altogether.

It is a bit of a reunion/greatest hits tour, given they've not got new tunes to promote and did release 20rbital last year to commemorate 20 years since Chime. So yeah, they'll play the biggies. While I agee that The Altogether and Blue aren't up to the high standards of their 90's output, they have their moments (Meltdown, esp the 20 minute version, and You Lot are amongst their most banging moments, for instance).

Now i've never seen Orbital live, but i do have about 20 bootleg shows - the thing that bugs me is that they don't tend to vary their setlist much and while the live versions are a bit different and certainly must be sights/sounds to behold live, when you hear multiple shows from the same tour, all the shows sound pretty much the same. Now i dunno how mucch is live mixed vs. sequenced, whatever, but it's certainly not improved to the extent of Underworld or even Chemical Brothers or Daft Punk.

Still, bring on some new tunes, brothers H!

pssssh. Altogether is ace.

It's good to hear Orbital is making a smooth return. I wish I could hear the really hard version of Dr. Who.

Re: Orbital Tonight
The interesting thing, Holden, is that one gets to know by heart the bootlegs...and the way they are playing songs 'currently' so to speak. But when they actually play, there is a fair amount of variation and 'live jam' feel. I was really impressed when I saw them in 96, and I was equally impressed friday night. My only complaint, is that some of the tracks they are playing are really REALLY long. From Out there Somewhere to Remind was over an hour. I hate to say it, but without invigorating substances, a 25 minute long epic gets a little old after a while. I was actually grateful to hear One Perfect Sunrise and Know Where to Run--I'd never heard them live before... same with Belfast. --I actually videod the entire Belfast, but the sound was so distorted I a probably going to scrap it. I thought about replacing the sound with the manchester version..

At any rate. Seeing Orbital seemed to put bookends on some emotions for me. I saw Orbital the first time and realized I wanted to make music --I saw Orbital on friday, and I realized, it might be time to move on. I felt my age in a big way.
