Loose sources at the moment, but intriguing. Perhaps this is what she meant when she said that she wanted to help America -- if she lands in a federal prison then she'll be in capivity with Americans hailing from many states...

Makes sense strategically that she's framing herself as the victim of frivolous accusations so much that she's resigning for the good of the state. And then if federal charges are brought against her, she's in a position to just say "see? They're out to get me!"
