Re: Jon Stewart - American Badass
hmm I prefer Daily Show over the Colbert Report. But both are good

Janie: that sucks that you can't get the full episodes

I don't know...I find it hard to agree with either party very often, so when someone is ridiculing one of the two parties by getting in character and spouting their most ridiculous viewpoints and ideas casually, its more funny to me than someone looking at that same party but also inserting their other-side-of-the-aisle input that Jon Stewart does, that I tend not to agree with as well. Jon Stewart does rip on Democrats from time to time, but I'm not sure on what pattern or criteria.

Incompetence, mostly. Jon doesn't really hide that he's a liberal, and I think he rips on them for not having a backbone for the past eight years.

I don't think it's quite the equal comparison between The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. One spoofs news shows (and gets bigger guests), and the other spoofs pundit shows. Jon Stewart is a great comedian, and Stephen Colbert is a great comedic actor. Some nights TDS is better, some nights TCR is better. It just depends on the news of the day and the angle each show takes.

Jon Stewart on top form, doing the kind of work that commentators far more serious than he should be doing - and ripping CNBC's Jim Cramer a new ass in the process.

3 clips, maybe NSFW (some language), definitely worth watching.

Stewart: "If I only followed CNBC's advice. I'd have a million dollars today – provided I'd started with $100m."

F'in class.

God I wish we had a broadcaster of his calibre over here...

I just can't believe how effective he is. He just took an entire corporate network and gave it a black eye. Michael moore could not have done half the damage. It really is remarkable, and if I had to guess how he manages it, I'd say its the power of not selling your soul.

Cramer VS Stewart interview was pretty awesome. Although I expected Cramer to put up a bit more of a fight, any kind of fight really, but I guess even he was hard pressed in the end to justify the things he was saying in the clips Stewart fired at him.

That's probably what they're most effective at - aside from making people laugh of course - on the Daily Show. They're so good at sifting through what people have said and done as a means of pointing out their hypocrisy, lies, manipulative tactics, etc. I actually wish that more people would have the balls to go on that show to be directly confronted by themselves. Like Limbaugh (they get O'Reilly in there too), or even FOX News. It's good to see people called on their shit.
