hilarious article. i do struggle with the best way to organize my collection. for example, if i have a 12" by somebody but it's the remix by someone else that i really like, do i file it under the remix artist or under the actual artist?

You file it under the artist you primarily associate it with. What about soundtracks? By composer or movie title? I'd say title, but what about when the composer is also a pop artist - like Neil Young's Dead Man?

that would depend on how much of a soundtrack fan i was. if soundtracks were my thing, i would file under movie title and have them all in one section. since i'm not, i'd file Dead Man under Neil Young. generally i file Soundtracks with other Pop/Rock compilations unless it's all electronic or all reggae/dub. those go in the compilation sections under their respective genre sections.

Salvation! soundtrack is filed under New Order, btw.
